Some Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Symptoms Can Be Managed with B Vitamins

Patients with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome share many similarities in symptoms associated with both these very painful disorders. Along with sharing many of the same symptoms, both have no known cause, nor is there a cure for either one.

It can be very hard to distinguish one from the other, because it is estimated that up to seventy percent of those diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome can also fall under the guidelines of fibromyalgia and vice versa. Even doctors can become confused, because people with chronic fatigue syndrome have pain associated, which is one of the main symptoms of fibromyalgia. On the reverse those with fibromyalgia have symptoms of fatigue which is a big factor for those afflicted with chronic fatigue syndrome. You can easily see why it might leave some wondering, which is which?

So what are some of the symptoms of Fibromyalgia? This disorder can affect anyone, but most commonly found in middle aged folks, and those with rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases can be especially at risk. Fibromyalgia makes you feel tired, we all can feel tired at some time or another, the difference comes in the fact, that even though rested, someone with fibromyalgia still feels tired, causing muscle pain and tenderness to the touch for some places such as the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms and legs. These life changing symptoms can bring on trouble sleeping, morning stiffness, headaches, along with problems thinking and memory.

Those diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome have had a minimum of six months of fatigue, other symptoms include muscle pain, memory problems, headaches, pain in multiple joints, sleep issues, sore throat and tender lymph nodes. This disorder commonly affects women in their 40's and 50's, but again anyone can get it and can last for years.

There is one thing that both doctors and their patients affected by either one of these disorders agree, and that is that B-12  and folic acid can help them manage some of their symptoms. Since both disorders can affect mental function, memory and thinking problems in particular. B vitamins and brain function are strong and well documented. It is no wonder many healthcare professionals, both traditional and alternative medicine, along with experts in both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome support the use of B vitamins and folic acid to help in managing their patients symptoms.

If you think you or a loved one has any or all of these symptoms, please see your health care provider to know for sure. If you have been diagnosed with either one of these disorders. Take plenty of high quality B vitamins to help with some of the symptoms.

If you would you like to try a free sample of a high quality B-12 vitamin with folic acid, through our Free Gift of Health, simply fill out the form on the site. Indicate that you would like to try Sublingual B-12 vitamins with folic acid! Simply the very best way to take in these key supplements for maximum effectiveness...

Nutritional Vitamin Supplements

The life expectancy of people has increased considerably over the last 150 years. To make sure that your senior years are lively ones I feel it's imperative that you lead a healthy lifestyle. This lifestyle should start with a balanced diet. It's also vital to get enough plenty of sleep and exercise. In my opinion, nutritional supplements play an important role in reducing the risk of disease as well as supplying the body with anti-aging nutrients.

Many of us have not lived very nutritious lifestyles in the past, and as a result, it may be taking its toll on your body and all around health. Is it too late to get started on the right track? Is it too late to improve your nutrient deficient body? Is it too late to make a lasting impression on those you love the most - your family?

In my humble opinion, some of our past lifestyle actions may NOT be resversible. However, we can, and should, have a positive affect on the people closest to us. Even though we may not be able to do anything about the past, we can do some about the future. This includes helping others around us not make the same mistakes.

Mr. Brozos Minshew, Chief Science Officer for TriVita, writes about this very subject in his latest Wellness Report. Read his complete report, and judge for yourself.

Are you nutrient deficient? Your parents can partly be to blame by Brozos Minshew, Chief Science Officer for TriVita

For the first time in recorded history, children born in North America today are not expected to live as long or as well as their parents. This startling trend may have its roots in the nutrition of our parents or grandparents. The trend continues through our generation. Truly, the "sins of the parents" are visited upon their children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren.

How did we get into this predicament and what can we do to change the trend?

Poisonous fruit
Along with the advances in agriculture that reduced famines and starvation, the farming practices of the last century produced some pretty scary trends. For example, food grown in mineral-depleted soil has fewer nutrients to offer us. Food processed for increased storage is further reduced in nutrients. Flavor-enhancing additives, such as refined sugar, further impose a burden on our system. It is as if we are over-taxing our personal health resources and the "deficit spending" of this course is being passed on to our children.

Some scientists recognized this disastrous course 100 years ago. General awareness of the importance of nutrition has increased significantly in the past 50 years. However, commercial and other interests have kept the debate suppressed until recently. A landmark article was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) June 19, 2002. It defined the need for nutrients in disease prevention. Though it was met with resistance, this article clearly opened the door for debate while confirming the truth we have known for a century: A body deprived of nutrients and nurturing will be prone to disease, disability and untimely death.

Further scientific exploration into the link between low nutrient reserves, a shortened lifespan, increased disease and unhealthy children was published that same year in the European Journal of Human Genetics. It clearly detailed the link between poor nutrition in a person and the increase in disease in their children and grandchildren.

The "root" of poor nutrition has erupted into obesity, heart disease, diabetes and other diseases that extend through generations. Habits and practices of 100 years ago are bearing "fruit" in our children!

Solutions
With this knowledge, the discussion around human nutrition has never been more important. We simply must change our habits if we are to change our destiny. For example, we must select food grown in mineral-rich soil and endorse farming practices that support ecology.

We must also discipline ourselves to take our nutrients every day. By doing this, we increase the opportunity for having healthier children. If we are past childbearing, taking our nutrients daily will improve our health and give us the opportunity to "model" responsible behavior for our children and grandchildren. Healthier kids mean a healthier family, a healthy community and even a healthier species.

The power to change the trend is in the choices you make every day.

Wellavoh
Men's and Women's Wellavoh (wel-lah voh) is a multi-nutrient complex built upon the science of proper nutrition. Wellavoh is constructed to give you the nutrients you need today to help your body change the trend: the trend toward wellness. It contains the classes of nutrients we need to fill in the gaps left by poor diet and foods grown in nutrient-depleted soil.

Wellavoh is designed for adults and children age 10 and over. Take your nutrients every day and model healthy behavior for your children and grandchildren. Become part of the solution to declining health by making better choices in nourishing and nurturing your body today! ** END of ARTICLE **

Some of you may need a complete overhaul of your lifestyle if you want to live long enough to see your grandchildren. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and less on saturated fats plus the introduction of a more active lifestyle will go a long way. And, nutrient supplementation, to make up for the lack of nutrients in your body, is also a very important health decision.

Before taking any supplements, it's always best to talk to your doctor or health professional. If that's been done, and you're looking for the vitamin and mineral supplements that are right for you, click on the following link to check out TriVita's Products.

Are you Addicted to eating

Generally speaking overweight people can be divided into one of two different categories. Either they have an unhealthy lifestyle working long hours, eating out all the time, not getting enough exercise or they simply eat too much, often in a compulsive way. This type of eating eating when one isn't hungry, for example, or eating for emotional reasons rather than physical hunger is really a type of addiction. It should be understood as an addiction, and it often is. For example, the group Overeaters Anonymous functions on many of the same principles as AA or other twelve step programs. Excessive eating is treated like an addiction because that's exactly what it is.

If that is the case, its easy to see why this addiction might be harder to treat than some others. The way to deal with an addiction is to stay away from the behaviour that's out of control. Alcoholics cant touch alcohol, for example. The idea is to not do it at all until the addiction becomes a thing of the past in fact, for many addicts, they can never indulge in their addictive behaviour again, not even once.

Food addiction, though, that's obviously impossible. People have to eat theres no getting away from it. That's why food addiction, though its an addiction to a non-lethal substance, may be the hardest of all to deal with. And that's also why companies such as TriVita, who produce and market meal replacements for people to use while dieting to lose weight, actually do succeed in helping some people.

The idea behind meal replacements is that you don't really eat at all for a good part of the day instead, you have a special shake or other product that gives you all the nutrients you need, and stops you from feeling hungry. This works in two ways: first, it controls the calories you take in, because the meal replacements are quite low calorie. Second, it breaks the cycle of addictive behaviour because you're not really eating. You can get away from the behaviour much as an alcoholic can (and must) get away from alcohol, and that gives you a better chance of breaking the addictive process.

Though most meal replacement plans do recommend that you eat one normal meal per day, some people who are serious about losing weight don't do even that. That's precisely how Oprah Winfrey once lost a lot of weight about fifty pounds. She said that she found it easier not to eat at all (subsisting on meal replacement shakes and bars) than to control her eating. When you know that you wont be eating real food at all for a while, it takes the guesswork out of it. Everything becomes very straightforward, and its a fact that many people have lost weight using this method of weight loss.

There are drawbacks, though. For one thing, while a weight loss program is supposed to teach you about how to eat for the rest of your life to establish healthy habits, in other words using meal replacements clearly doesn't do so. Once you go back to eating real food, you might find that your problems with controlling your food intake are still there. Though you will have lost weight, you are more likely to gain it back if you haven't learned healthy eating habits.

Also, theres a danger that some people will keep on using the meal replacements for extended periods of time, just because its easier and more convenient. Thought they re designed to give you a minimum level of calories and nutrition, meal replacement bars cannot substitute for real food over an extended period.

However, if you know or suspect that your problem with food resembles an addiction or compulsion, it may be worth your while to think about using meal replacements for a while in order to lose some weight. Try to make the time you spend using them as productive as possible, though. Really come to terms with your past behaviour, and learn what it feels like to be full but not stuffed. Figuring out the answer to these and other aspects of healthy eating will help make your weight loss permanent.

A Detoxification Gift from The Sonoran Desert

Pollution, as we know is all around us from the air we breathe, to the food we eat. There is no escape from toxins as they invade our bodies in a variety of different ways. Since we can't completely stop toxins from their destructive path, we can fight back!

Countless native Americans know the land holds many natural healing secrets, and one such secret is found in the desert, the Sonoran desert to be precise. It's the Nopal Cactus, featuring it's most amazing fruit. The robust pinkish color of the fruit gives way to it's secret, the amazing Betalains. There are 24 known Betalains all of which are essential for human health. Betalains are anti-toxin and anti-inflammatory, we all could use some of that!

There is a leader amongst the Betalains that helps detoxify and it's called beta xanthine. Beta xanthine is an important friend when it comes to detoxifying your liver and kidneys. Our bodies burn food in order to create energy and build health. As previously mentioned, toxins are on a never ending quest from both the outside elements and inside elements, which in turn hampers the body from doing it's job effectively.

A key player in creating toxins from within our body is uric acid. Uric acid is excreted by the kidneys, and too much build up of uric acid is poisonous and has been associated with heart disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, kidney stones and gout. Our kidneys are delicate and easily damaged by dehydration with too much protein, sugar, toxic metals like mercury and toxins like aspirin. Even temperature extremes like heat can affect them.

Our liver neutralizes uric acid with enzymes, and those same enzymes also detoxify many other poisons. Thus improving liver detoxification of uric acid helps in detoxifying other poisons which is a very good thing indeed! If your liver is fatty, sluggish or toxic, chances are you will be unable to complete the detoxification process...Guess what, with the help of our new found friend from the Sonoran Desert, Betalain beta xanthine can help improve your chances of detoxification as it aids by neutralizing toxins such as uric acid, thus increasing liver detoxification enzymes that clean up both outside and inside toxins, and as an added bonus, it may even reduce the shock our kidneys face from excessive heat! Now that's a win...win!

So drink in the wellness of the Betalain beta xanthine to help protect your precious assets, the liver and kidneys. Helping to detoxify your body, ultimately gaining better overall health!

Get the greatest abundance of all 24 Betalains from the Nopal fruit found in the Sonoran Desert, and find the best source of Betalains in Sonoran Bloom Nopalea. Weight Loss

The New Year, marks a time when many individuals will be taking on a health and wellness challenge to lose weight. Be sure to talk with your doctor before beginning any weight loss program.

Weight loss issues flood our homes every day. We see it on television, on the Internet, in stores, and just about anywhere we go. Dramatic weight loss does not necessarily mean it is unhealthy weight loss. Dramatic weight loss is defined by how it was lost and how long it took to lose the weight. It is a normal human reaction to see famous people in the news who are deemed to have dramatic weight loss, such as Jane Goldman, Tyra Banks, and Miranda Kerr. Dramatic weight loss can be healthy.

There are many ways to lose weight. Once one does lose the weight, it looks like a dramatic weight loss because it is clearly visible. The trick is to keep it healthy. Unhealthy weight loss can detrimentally affect the body, especially the heart. So what are some of the ways that weight loss is possible?

Weight loss surgery is one of the latest “fads” to hit the media. The famed lapband is the now a popular way to loss weight through surgery. Other options for weight loss include:
Zerona
Liposuction
Laser Lipolysis
SlimLipo
SmartLipo

Even though these methods may be effective and immediate slimming is visible, risks are associated with them and they should be considered as a last resort. Losing weight takes time and should be taken slowly. Realistic goals are the most effective for losing weight and finding the right support system. Dramatic weight loss takes time, effort, and hard work. There are a few steps to follow for health and wellness weight loss. First is goal setting. The second is to find a diet buddy. The third is to find the right diet. Not every diet out there is the “right one” for everyone. You may have to try on a few before finding on that really works. Dramatic weight loss can then begin.

For those who are really enthusiastic and stick to their goals of dramatic weight loss, consider losing 10% of your total body weight in 3-4 months time. This should then equal about 20% weight loss in a year. Most people will lose about 5% in 3-4 months and 10% over the course of a year. Healthy and wellness weight loss is the key word here. Compare pictures of before and after and you will see a dramatic weight loss and you too can be one of the stars who have a dramatic and slender new body.

B12 Benefits

New DocumentDo You Lack B12 Benefits?

These uses have been tested in humans or animals. Safety and effectiveness have not always been proven. Some of these conditions are potentially serious, and should be evaluated by a qualified healthcare provider.

Megaloblastic anemia - due to vitamin B12 deficiency

Vitamin B12 deficiency is a cause of megaloblastic anemia. In this type of anemia, red blood cells are larger than normal and the ratio of nucleus size to cell cytoplasm is increased. There are other potential causes of megaloblastic anemia, including folate deficiency or various inborn metabolic disorders. If the cause is B12 deficiency, then treatment with B12 is the standard approach. Patients with anemia should be evaluated by a physician in order to diagnose and address the underlying cause. Grade A

Vitamin B12 deficiency

Studies have shown that a deficiency of vitamin B12 can lead to abnormal neurologic and psychiatric symptoms. These symptoms may include: ataxia (shaky movements and unsteady gait), muscle weakness, spasticity, incontinence, hypotension (low blood pressure), vision problems, dementia, psychoses, and mood disturbances. Researchers report that these symptoms may occur when vitamin B12 levels are just slightly lower than normal and are considerably above the levels normally associated with anemia. People at risk for vitamin B12 deficiency include strict vegetarians, elderly people, and people with increased vitamin B12 requirements associated with pregnancy, thyrotoxicosis, hemolytic anemia, hemorrhage, malignancy, liver or kidney disease.Administering vitamin B12 orally, intramuscularly, or intranasally is effective for preventing and treating dietary vitamin B12 deficiency. Grade A

Pernicious anemia

Pernicious anemia (blood abnormality) is a form of anemia that occurs when there is an absence of intrinsic factor, a substance normally present in the stomach. Vitamin B12 binds with intrinsic factor before it is absorbed and used by the body. An absence of intrinsic factor prevents normal absorption of B12 and may result in pernicious anemia. Pernicious anemia treatment is usually lifelong; supplemental vitamin B12 given intramuscularly, intranasally, or by mouth. Grade A

Alzheimer's disease

Some patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease have been found to have abnormally low vitamin B12 levels in their blood. However, vitamin B12 deficiency itself often causes disorientation and confusion and thus mimics some of the prominent symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. Well-designed clinical trials are needed before a strong recommendation can be made. Grade C

Angioplasty

Some evidence suggests that folic acid plus vitamin B12 and pyridoxine daily can decrease the rate of restenosis in patients treated with balloon angioplasty. But this combination does not seem to be as effective for reducing restenosis in patients after coronary stenting. Due to the lack of evidence of benefit and potential for harm, this combination of vitamins should not be recommended for patients receiving coronary stents. Grade C

Breast cancer

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University report that women with breast cancer tend to have lower vitamin B12 levels in their blood serum than do women without breast cancer. In a subsequent review of these findings, it was hypothesized that vitamin B12 deficiency may lead to breast cancer because it could result in less folate being available to ensure proper DNA replication and repair. Higher dietary folate intake is associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer. The risk may be further reduced in women who also consume high amounts of dietary vitamin B12 in combination with dietary pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and methionine. However, there is no evidence that dietary vitamin B12 alone reduces the risk of breast cancer. Grade C

*Key to grades

B: Good scientific evidence for this use;
C: Unclear scientific evidence for this use;

Pain Relief

New DocumentReduce Inflammation

When toxins assault your system—or when injury or infection strikes—your body responds with a complex biological process commonly referred to as inflammation. . If this inflammation goes unchecked, it can lead to a wide variety of disorders, from stroke to arthritis to heart disease.

Nopalea defends your body against dangerous toxins that threaten cellular health, lead to inflammation and trigger a whole host of diseases. Here’s how it can help the body thrive.

Nopalea specifically targets signs of inflammation in your body and reduces them quickly.1 Its betalains and other anti-inflammatory ingredients work directly on the fluid surrounding your cells. There, they draw off the toxins and excess water to reduce inflammation and rebalance the cellular environment.

Protect against premature aging

Your skin is a miraculous covering that protects you from harm. Pollution, toxins, radiation and other potentially damaging influences are kept out of your body by your skin; vital organs are protected inside. One of the first signs of aging is thin, sagging, withered skin that is easily damaged.

Nopalea rushes to these damaged areas to shore up your protective layer. The betalains in Nopalea fill in the gaps of your cells (including the cells in your skin) and return them to the firm, robust nature of young cells — at any age. By providing a healthy environment for the cell, betalains keep it from withering.

Vitamin B-12

A lot of doctors recommend vitamin b12 shots over other oral tablets. However, TriVita's patented Sublingual Vitamin B12 may provide the proper supply of this all important vitamin.

Why is vitamin b12 necessary? According to a web site that's promoting b12 shots, "vitamin B12 shots are designed to provide the user with a boost in energy and a prolonged source of energy to use during the day. There are some advantages to getting Vitamin B Vitamin supplements in the form of Vitamin B12 injections. Because the vitamin is absorbed more quickly into the bloodstream this way, B12 injections can provide a quick energy boost. Many people who get vitamin B12 injections notice an improvement in their energy level within a few days, if not sooner. In addition to feeling more energy, the shots can be effective in terms of clearer skin, better sleep, improved memory, and feeling less stressed. The fact is that Vitamin B12 is a micro nutrient that is used in the process of energy release. Without the presence of Vitamin B12 you could not burn calories and your energy would not be released." [1]

As you can see from the quote above, vitamin b12 is not just a quick energy booster, it produces a lot of other effective results. Before we get into the positive results, let's take a look at what your body may have to deal with if you are vitamin b12 deficient.

The most severe case of vitamin b12 deficiency (your body does not have enough of this vitamin) is anemia, which means you do not have enough red blood cells to do the job which can leave you feeling week and tired. Typically, vitamin B12 deficiency anemia is not diagnosed until it is moderate to severe.

Some symptoms of vitamin b12 deficiency include:

  • Feeling week, tired or lightheaded
  • Memory loss and or disorientation
  • Having pale skin, or white spots on the skin, resulting from melatonin becoming absent in the area
  • Have a sore, red or itchy tongue. Some may experience sores at the corners of the mouth. These are raw spots, not blisters, and they tend to come and go
  • Numbness or tingling in your fingers and or toes
  • Sharp stabbing pain in the palm of one or both hands
  • Eye twitch, usually in one eye or the other. It can occur on the eyelid or just below
  • Depression [1]

A simple blood test can determine if you are vitamin b12 deficient. And once the diagnosis has been completed, there are two ways to treat the deficiency: 1.) get b12 shots; 2.) take TriVita's Sublingual B12. If you're into doctors and needles, shots may be right for you. If you'd prefer an easier method, try TriVita's Sublingual B12 tablets. These tablets dissolve under your tongue, and have patented delivery system.

Dr. Alfred Libby, M.D., a renowned authority on therapeutic nutrition and longtime associate of Nobel Prize Laureate, Dr. Linus Pauling, began to explore an alternative delivery system for Vitamin B-12. The goal was to bypass the stomach where this essential nutrient is not easily absorbed.

In early spring of 1980, Dr. Libby approached his colleagues with his new theory that B-12 could be delivered to the bloodstream sublingually (under the tongue). Biochemists and his medical colleagues were quick to dismiss the idea. However, he was persistent and they eventually decided to give his theory a try, although they were convinced it would fail.

Six weeks later the first clinical trial was underway. Shortly after, Dr. Libby's Sublingual B-12 invention was deemed a complete success - blood levels of B-12 increased from 1.2% to over 90%! In fact, Dr. Libby's patented sublingual delivery method is able to deliver up to 98% absorption where oral tablets have as little as 2%.

Dr. Libby continued his research for the rest of his life. Over 20 years of research went into vitamin b12 and its effects on the human body. It's no wonder that with TriVita's Sublingual B12, you can be assured that your body is getting the B vitamins it needs. The original, patented formula bypasses the digestive system, speeding the nutrients directly to your bloodstream, where they can go to work right away.

If you fear needles and shots, why not try TriVita's Sublingual B12. To learn more about TriVita's Sublingual Vitamin B-12, click on the previous link.

New Weight Loss Idea

The weight loss world is going through a fundamental shift and some new secret weight loss tips have emerged that have been shown in research settings and real life examples to produce rapid results. This article shares these secrets with you.

1. No carbs are out - shifting carbs is in. Following a no carb diet does create a lose of weight but it is a diet that is extremely challenging to stick with and these types of diets are no longer recommended.

What has been shown to work as effectively and be much more livable is shifting your carbs. Simply finish eating carbohydrates such as breads, pastas, cereal and rice by lunchtime and then shift to protein and vegetables in the afternoon/evening.

2. Staying low calorie is out - learning how to "cheat" is in. Old school diets had you lower your calories and keep them low, the problem was that your ability to lose weight would stop because your body would switch off your metabolism as it entered hunger mode.

The wonderful alternative that researchers came up with and real life examples have proven successful is to strategically cheat one day a week. Keep your calories low for 6 days and then on day 7 have a high calorie meal with carbohydrates and fats.

3. Long steady state exercise is out - Shorter high-intensity exercise is in. For the best fat loss you want to maximize your effort for short (1 to 5 minute) intervals throughout your aerobic weight loss session.

There is a new age of weight loss and these secret weight loss tips are the cutting edge of the new and more efficient way to burn fat and lose weight.

Nopalea and Anti-Aging

There's been a lot of talk about TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea, and for good reason. The betalains, the main nutrient of the Nopal cactus, are known as a natural and powerful anti-inflammatory nutrient, one that fights inflammation and thus, helps to relieve chronic pain that is caused by inflammation.

In a recent "anti-aging" conference, the topic that got the most attention was the destruction and rebuilding of cells within the human body. As a result, one presenter was actually talking about betalains and the Nopal cactus, the key ingredient of TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea.

Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer, writes about the conference, stem cells, and the Nopal cactus. I've included the complete article below:

Nopalea and Stem Cells - by Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer

I attended an anti-aging conference recently. The discussions were about natural and pharmaceutical ways to slow the aging process and extend the vitality/longevity of humans. There were 20 speakers from around the world. All 20 of these physicians and professors eventually discussed stem cells as a way to slow aging and speed healing.

What are stem cells and how can they help us live long, healthy lives? Are there natural products that can assist us as we age?

What are stem cells?
At conception, cells begin to divide into what will become a person. Along the way the cells "differentiate" - that is, they become different tissues. Some become the heart, others the brain and so on until the complete human is formed. These are called "embryonic" stem cells. Highly controversial experiments are being conducted with samples of these cells.

Once a person is formed, does the human body stop making stem cells? No, because stem cells are part of our miraculous healing process. We make stem cells every day of our life. These are different from embryonic stem cells because they actually replace other cells. You see, every cell in your body has a life span. When that cell dies it needs to be replaced. Stem cells made in your bone marrow and other places in your body follow a chemical trail back to the place where the cell dies and "differentiate" into the type of cell that died.

Aging can be defined as the process of cell death and cell replacement. Premature aging is when more cells die than you can replace in a single day. Chronic disease and disability often accompany premature aging, as you might imagine. Stem cells replace dead cells. So, the more stem cells you can make in a day, the slower you are aging, the more vital you may be, and the less likely you are to experience the chronic diseases associated with premature aging. All 20 of the experts at the anti-aging conference endorsed doing all we can to promote stem cell production by our own body.

Making stem cells
As I mentioned, we make stem cells every day. Dying cells release enzymes into your bloodstream. Your brain interprets the level of enzymes and sends an appropriate amount of Human growth hormone (HgH). When the HgH reaches the bone marrow or other stem cell "nursery," it triggers the release of a number of stem cells that roughly correspond to the amount of HgH. The stem cells follow the chemical trail left by the enzymes of the dying cell. They follow the trail back to the space left by the dead cell and nestle into the tissues. Once there, they differentiate into the cell they replace - they literally become the exact type of cell they replaced.

Nutrients are required for making cells (including stem cells). If you are deficient in any critical nutrient at the moment you create stem cells, one of two things will happen:

  1. Your bone marrow will refuse the order to meet that quota of stem cells, causing premature aging, or
  2. The cells will be made, but without the nutrients critical for the health and longevity of the cell. When a deficient cell matures it becomes the target for inflammation and disease.

Cells need nutrients. Without all of the appropriate nutrients on board at all times, we will not be able to make as many healthy cells as we lose in a day. The disparity between how many cells we lose and how many we can replace is premature aging.

More stem cells
Nutrients serve as the foundation for stem cells. However, specific nutrients also stimulate the production of stem cells. At the anti-aging conference, six stem cell-stimulating nutrients were identified. As one speaker neared the end of his presentation, he talked about "a curious bioflavonoid" found in great abundance in prickly pears from the Nopal cactus. Of course, he was talking about Betalains! It turns out that Betalains along with Vitamin B-12 may help your body increase the production of stem cells.

More healthy stem cells close the gap between the numbers of cells that die and the number of cells we replace every day. That equals slower aging. So, take your nutrients every day: Men's and Women's Wellavoh for the nutrient foundation we need, Super Sublingual B-12 and Nopalea to encourage an abundant crop of anti-aging stem cells!

Is Your Skin Telling You Something?

As a society we are very much dependant on our outward appearance. Why we spend billions, maybe even trillions on everything from the clothes we wear, to way we smell, and everything in between. But let me ask you a question, have you REALLY looked at the skin you're in? It may in fact be telling you something.

Every morning we wake up and look in the mirror, often because we see ourselves 24/7, we may not really be paying close enough attention to the details. It's these details that can shed light to possible health issues lurking inside. For example:

Let's start with dry skin, perhaps it's the obvious, and you just need more fluids, especially water. In the winter months especially, when so many of us are indoors for the majority of the time, often our skin is dry and irritated. It just may be that you need more essential fatty acids in order to relieve your dry skin.

How about liver spots. It isn't unusual to see older folks with brown spots on their hands. Typically these spots are a direct result of sun damage, but sometimes it could be far worse. Liver spots are from a chemical pigment called lipofuscin. When this pigment builds up in your muscles, nerves, skin and brain, it isn't good. In some cases causing loss of fine motor skills in the hands and body. Extreme overload of lipofuscin in the brain could result in nervous system oxidation and possibly Parkinson Disease. If you have liver spots, keep a watchful eye on them, reporting any major changes to your doctor. and again you may find some relief by taking essential fatty acids, along with antioxidants, together nourishing and protecting your precious brain tissues.

Vitiligo is a skin disorder that causes a loss of pigment in areas of the skin. The pigment loss may result in white blotches on the hands and face. Sometimes vitiligo can be a side effect of too much antibiotic use, chemotherapy or steroids. Sadly, it can just happen with no reason at all. One way you can fight back against vitiligo is with UV light therapy. B-12 vitamins are also quite helpful if you take it correctly for maximum benefits such as sublingually, under the tongue. B-12 vitamins can actually help starve the fungus that may trigger vitiligo. You can also implement the amino acid L-Phenylalanine as it holds much promise in the fight.

So take heed to your body, watch for the signs that your skin may be telling you! Nourish your skin in a bath of essential fatty acids, and reduce inflammation, by taking TriVita's OmegaPrime.

A Little Known Beauty Secret Found in Nopal Fruit

In the dry desert landscape there grows a plant with sharp needles, that can appear to be as unfriendly as the rattlesnakes, and lizards that dwell amongst it. Yet this amazing cactus plant is host to a most beautiful flower, adding color to this desolate land. It is the base of this pleasing flower that holds a key to helping our skin stay younger.

The lovely pinkish color is the precursor to a prestigious class of nutrients called "Betalains", as the Betalains give the fruit it's appealing color. These impressive nutrients are bioflavonids which are part of the Quercetin household. Bioflavonoids are a vitamin like substance that works in alliance with antioxidants such as Vitamin C. These colleagues work together to help our bodies make collagen, which makes our skin soft and supple, and helps strengthen our blood vessels, so we don't bruise so easily.

As we age and lose collagen, the structural protein that helps provide healthy elasticity, our skin thins, and as a result men and women fight to keep a youthful appearance from such predators as:

Crow's Feet - The outer corner of the eyes and upper and lower eyelids can become saggy and baggy as collagen levels lessen. Tear troughs (deep hollows under the eye sockets) can also form.

Drooping Brows - Depleting collagen can cause your eyebrows to droop, resulting in a hooded look over the eyelids.

Nasolabial Folds - Lack of collagen increases the appearance of the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Jowls- Jowls are due to excess skin, which occurs from a decrease in collagen, elastin and volume, drawing attention to unrefined contours.

Thin lips - Lost collagen leads to the development of lip lines and a loss of volume. Just to name a few.

In a society that spends billions with a "B" to stay youthful, with expensive cosmetic surgery, paying premium prices for fancy creams and lotions, countless visits to the dermatologists for botox injections, and other skin procedures, all in pursuit of beauty, could there be some help in the battle?

We all have heard people talk about how someone is beautiful on the inside. This is important, from the view point that good health is directly reflected on the outside of our bodies. Hence another saying "you are what you eat". In the ongoing battle for youthfulness, the fight should begin from within by taking good care of you. Start by eating a balance diet, drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep, and don't forget to take your Betalins in order to help make collagen, which in turns helps your skin look more vigorous and fresh.

One more piece of news for you regarding Betalins, it can also help reduce inflammation which Time Magazine deemed "The Silent Killer", sounds like a win, win to me...I take my Betalins, do you?

If you would like to drink in these powerful healing nutrients, the best source I have found is in a product called Sonoran Bloom Nopalea. Betalins, B-12 & Stem Cells?

I just finished reading an interesting article by Brazos Minshew, Chief Science Officer for TriVita. In this informative report, Minshew had just returned from an anti-aging conference that focused on natural and pharmaceutical ways to slow the aging process and extend the vitality/longevity of humans. There were 20 speakers from around the world. All 20 of these physicians and professors eventually discussed stem cells as a way to slow aging and speed healing.

Now I don't know about you, but when I think of "stem cells" I immediately think of stem cell research and the highly controversial experimentation being conducted on these tissues. Of course not knowing or understanding the full definition of stem cells, that yes there are "embryonic" stem cells which are cells that differentiate becoming different tissue that become the heart, brain and other organs in a forming human. But did you know that once a human is formed, that the body continues to make stem cells? It's true! In fact, we make stem cells everyday as part of our healing process. The difference between these stem cells and "embryonic stem cells" is stem cells the body makes afterwards replace other cells.

Our bodies along with our cells eventually die, thus when a cell dies, the stem cells made in your bone marrow and other parts of our bodies are released back through a chemical trail to the dead cell, basically transforming to the type of cell it is to replace. For me it explains a lot about the aging process because it is defined as cell death and cell replacement. Further demonstrating why some people age prematurely, because stem cells cannot keep up daily with the demand of dead cells. Too many dead cells, not enough stem cells to keep up. On the flip side, if stem cells are not under such extreme demands on a daily basis, and an adequate amount can be produced daily you age slower. A healthy human being is less likely to experience chronic diseases associated with premature aging. Obviously, having a whole lot of stem cells is a very good thing indeed!

Stem cells as part of the body also requires proper nutrition to function adequately on a daily basis. If the body does not receive the required nutrients for making cells and those stem cells you can become deficient. So when the call comes for cell replacement from dying cells your bone marrow will not fill the order to meet the demand, and we all know what happens then...premature aging. Or cells will be made, but lack the critical nutrients that make it a healthy cell, leaving it wide open for inflammation and disease.

To keep our body making all those much needed stem cells, first and foremost you need a good foundation of proper nutrition, but you can take it one step further with specific nutrients that really stimulate the production line of stem cells. But what kind of special nutrients? Well, back to the article, and the anti-aging conference Brazos Menshew spoke of where six stem cells powerhouse nutrients were mentioned. Of the those duly noted, two stood out, one of which has an unusually large amount of the much needed stem cell nutrient, and believe it or not, it's found in the prickly pear cactus! It's Betalains! Betalins taken with vitamin B-12 may help the production.

So keep the hands of time at a slower speed, help your body burn the midnight oil on the stem cell production line by feeding it just what it needs, Betalins and B-12. The best way to get these two super nutrients is by taking superior products! So grab a bottle of Sonoran Bloom Nopalea and drink in a wealth of Betalins, then place sublingual B-12's tasty pink pill under your tongue! Now your cooking!

New Year Weight Loss

The New Year is well underway and thoughts of our resolution to improve our health and wellness and lose weight are still in our mind. As we wish to attain a physique that may or may not be attainable, maybe it’s time we look at the not-so-obvious factors that come with this seasonal frame of mind. It’s easy and most obvious to give up the things that we enjoy and don’t really have ALL that too often like chocolate or pasta, but why do we turn to the simple pleasures in life once we get serious about weight-loss? If the rest of your family gets to eat Momma’s Mouth-watering Million-calorie Mac & cheese, does that mean you can’t? It’s hard if you are the one making this yummy dish, don’t you think? The sight, smell, or mere thought of this family favourite is only one of a handful of influences that go with the whole eating process.

Your brain and stomach physiologically lets you know that you are hungry. Have you ever passed a restaurant and the lingering smell reminds you that you haven’t eaten yet? Yep, also part of the process, it’s your body’s way of letting you know that it is on the hunt for food. Cognitive influences play a major role in when and why you stop eating too. Social situations make it hard to limit self-control as you can get caught up in the moment. Guards go down, which makes it easier to rationalize eating more food then usual. Speaking of rationalizing do you not “count” Momma’s Mouth-watering Million-calorie Mac & cheese or holiday meals because they are ’special’ or once in a while things? Yes we all do, that is why we are having this discussion right now. The time of day, your perception of hunger and satiation, and even the mentality of cleaning your plate (because there are starving children in Africa) all attribute to how much you eat and why you continue to eat. At some point you realize that you are full, or in the case of dieting you realize that you may actually be starving; then the whole process starts again.

So before you start your new diet remember to think REALISTIC. Ok, so you want to lose 20 pounds, great! Just know that drastically cutting calories, restricting yourself to foods that you do not like, and definitely cutting out life’s little enjoyments all affect the psychological aspect of what your new diet entails. And have you thought about what you are going to do once you get to your goal weight? That’s why a lot of people gain it right back: there is no maintenance plan for keeping the weight off. Once you realize the real work is keeping off the weight you lose, then you can begin to make changes.

A diet that is going to work for you is one that fits in with your daily life. If you do not cook or are always on the go, for example, it may be hard to prepare something healthy and fast. Having whole grain breads, pastas, and cereals on hand can make the not quite Betty Crockers make the best choices when fixing foods or On-the-go Joes who simply don’t have the time to prepare anything. If you are like most people on diets, STARVING, then load your meals with lean protein (fish, chicken, low-fat dairy, eggs, and beans), high-fiber grains (whole wheat pastas and breads, oats, barley, and popcorn), and healthy fats such as extra-virgin olive oil, nuts, and avocados to keep you full untill your next meal. If you are an emotional eater, then keep healthy snacks around like yogurt, trail mix, string cheese, and fruit for when a bout of boredom, stress, or other mental craving his you. The object here is to change the relationship you have with food. And like any relationship you should know what ticks you off, what your weaknesses are, and what pleases you. By knowing what triggers your eating habits, why you fail at keeping ‘on the program’ wagon, and the food reward systems you allow yourself then you can replace the concept of exploiting what you can or cannot eat with a balanced and sensible transformation of the moderation of food.

Dr. Libby: A Man with a Mission

Alfred Libby, M.D., earned five doctorates and was recognized as one of the world’s pioneering authorities on therapeutic nutrition. Dr. Libby’s medical background in bio-chemical research includes an association with Nobel Prize Laureate, Dr. Linus Pauling.

A new way to get B12 Benefits

Dr. Alfred Libby was a medical doctor and substance abuse therapy specialist who worked primarily with heroin addicts – searching for new therapies to improve the detoxification process. He was aware that most addicts were not getting the B12 benefits they needed through food, but he was extremely reluctant to give them any kind of injection. In the late 1970s, Dr. Libby began to explore an alternative delivery system for vitamin B12. The goal was to bypass the stomach where this essential nutrient is not easily absorbed.

In early spring of 1980, Dr. Libby approached his colleagues with his theory that B12 could be delivered to the bloodstream sublingually (under the tongue). Biochemists and his medical colleagues were quick to dismiss the idea. However, he was persistent and they eventually decided to give his theory a try, although they were convinced it would fail.

Sublingual – a success story

Six weeks later the first study was underway. Shortly after, Dr. Libby’s sublingual delivery method was deemed a complete success – blood levels of B12 increased dramatically. Dr. Libby significantly improved his formula with the addition of B-6 & Folic Acid and was issued a patent in 1984 for his sublingual process.

And now, from the experts that brought you the original Sublingual B12 comes TriVita Super Sublingual B12. With the original, patented delivery system, TriVita Super B provides more B12 than the average B12 shot. Studies show that these important nutrients can be measured in the bloodstream in as little as 30 minutes! Plus, it’s the first and only B12 product to combine both major forms of B-12 with B-6, folic acid and ginseng.

B12 Benefits

New DocumentWays You Can Get B12 Benefits

Until recently, there were few options for getting the B12 benefits your body needs:

* Diet:

B12 is naturally found in animal foods including fish, milk and milk products, eggs, meat and poultry. But your ability to absorb the B vitamins from food decreases as you age because the production of acids that release the B12 from protein decreases with aging. Other factors – including reliance on acid suppressing agents, gastric disorders or surgery, certain prescription medications and dysfunction of intrinsic factor – can also interfere with your body’s ability to absorb B12.

* Oral tablets:

Although there are many B vitamin tablets available on the market, B12 is very poorly absorbed into the body by oral means. Blood levels of B12 increase only slightly after these tablets pass through the digestive system.

* B12 injections:

Doctors have relied on B12 shots for years to treat serious B12 deficiencies. Though most of the vitamin B12 benefits from large intramuscular doses is lost in the urine, injections have still traditionally been the best method of treatment. The shots, however, can be embarrassing; difficult to provide for some patients who are elderly or living alone; and painful and expensive if provided by a health care professional.

Why Super Sublingual B12 from TriVita?

Super Sublingual B12 from TriVita uses a delivery system so unique and powerful, it was patented! Now you don’t have to worry about your B12 going through a digestive system obstacle course – or the pain and expense of a B12 injection. And, Super B contains more vitamin B12 than the average injection!

Plus, it’s the only B12 product on the market to combine both major forms of B12 with B-6, folic acid and ginseng. TriVita Super Sublingual B12 takes the pain and worry out of B12 supplementation. These critical nutrients go directly to your bloodstream, where they start working right away.

Now you can experience the B12 benefits of TriVita`s Super Sublingual B12 visit here B12 Benefits today and get a Free gift with your order. Super B12

Weight Loss

Health and Wellness on the Internet is a growth industry and a huge market as people improve their lifestyles and live longer. One important area is diet and unfortunately the population of many developed and developing countries are becoming obese.

Fast food outlets are to blame together with junk food and a sedentary lifestyle based on watch TV or playing computer games. To live healthy you need to eat the right food i.e. avoid fats, eat protein and fresh fruit and vegetables rather than processed foods which generally contain high levels of salt and sugar, which should also be avoided.

Exercise is a must to improve your health and wellness, but it can be a simple as taking a walk in the park or a daily swim. Generally speaking the more you eat, the more you need to exercise. Obesity in Children has increased in line with the spread of computers and Internet cafe's where computer games are played. Youngsters now play soccer on computers rather than on a playing field, so its is not wonder they are putting on weight.

Weigth Loss after New Year

If your New Year resolution of improving your health and wellness and to lose weight – and keep it off, then keep reading! Here are six simple tips that will have you losing weight in a balanced and healthy way.

1. Lose weight with water.
Water is essential for everybody – it is also the key to losing weight. If you haven’t been drinking enough water, your body has developed a pattern of storing water. This water retention equals extra unwanted weight.By drinking more water, you are not only flushing out toxins, you are also teaching your body that it no longer needs to store water. Drink at least 60 ounces of water (about 8 glasses) a day. Boil water and sliced lemons, and drink this throughout the day to help with fluid retention. If you are still not sold on the merits of water, try this on for size: water is a natural appetite suppressant.

2. Soup up your weight loss program.
A simple dietary change will have you shedding pounds: eat a bowl of soup at least once a day. Nutritious, low-salt soups will nourish you as they flush waste from your body. People who eat a serving of soup daily lose more weight than those who eat the same amount of calories but don’t eat soup. Eat homemade soup whenever possible, as canned soups are loaded with salt and chemicals.

3. Eat early to keep weight off.
The human body follows a circadian rhythm, which means that the same foods eaten at breakfast and lunch are processed differently than when eaten at dinner. Studies show that when you eat your daily protein and fat at breakfast you tend to lose weight and have more energy; however, eating the same things at dinner tend to increase tendencies toward weight gain. I suggest that you eat your last meal of the day by 7 p.m.

4. Eat smaller meals, more frequently.
Follow an eating schedule with five little meals every day. Eating steadily through the day keeps you from becoming famished and overeating at your next meal. Make a low-fat trail mix from raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, dried plum, and apples and have it available at all times to avoid the tempting lure of high-calorie snacks.

5. Adopt a balanced approach to your diet.
Most of the fad diet programs out there nowadays are extreme in a few recommended foods, or else deprive the body of food altogether. This works in opposition to our metabolism and the results usually don’t last, producing a yoyo effect that depresses your metabolic function – not to mention your self-esteem. We are natural beings that need a balance of nutrition from all sources.Your diet should consist of a balance of organic sources of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Instead of white rice and pasta, opt for brown rice, bulgur, millet, or buckwheat.Eat more green, chlorophyll-rich foods such as broccoli, kale, spinach, and asparagus. Eliminate candy, sugar, soda, and all simple sugars from your diet. Excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain. Also, keep dairy to a minimum because most dairy products are high in saturated fat. Avoid fatty foods, processed or fried foods.

6. Walk off the weight.
The No. 1 cause of weight gain is inactivity. Physical activity is the key to speeding up your metabolism and burning excess calories. The best way to be physically active is to use your legs! Walk as often and as long as you can. Always take the stairs instead of the elevator.Step outside during your break at work and take a walk around your building. Consider joining a local hiking club. Try taking a walk 30 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes in the early evening.

Vitamin D - a Protector from Cancer?

Probably one of the most unknown facts regarding vitamin D is that it's one of the most powerful nutrients in nature. Not only does this inflammation fighter help promote healthy heart and brain function, but new studies show the vitamin can help slow down the progression of certain cancers. As a matter of fact, according to numerous studies and medical journals vitamin d, the sunshine vitamin, may be the key to optimum health. It's no surprise that some scientists call Vitamin D the ultimate weapon for protection from disease.

However, nine out of 10 Americans are deficient in vitamin D. Furthermore, it's been documented many times that even people who spend plenty of time in the sun can still lack this vital inflammation fighter. This is becoming more and more serious because inflammation is a major cause of heart and brain attacks, high blood pressure, joint pain, bone loss, digestive problems, blood sugar imbalances and a host of other serious health problems.

Results of a recent study, presented at the American Society of Hematology's annual meeting in New Orleans, states that "a high proportion of community-dwelling subjects in both tropical and temperate climates are deficient in vitamin D, and that subjects in northern latitudes often require dietary supplementation to maintain vitamin D sufficiency." [1]

They also go on and say that "several reports now suggest that vitamin D sufficiency is protective against the development of several cancers, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). However, it is not known whether vitamin D impacts prognosis in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), the most common NHL subtype." [1]

You can read the background, methods, and results of the entire study by copying and pasting the web site address which is listed under the resources heading. But part of the conclusion states that "approximately 50% of all DLBCL patients in this northern US latitude population are vitamin D deficient at the time of diagnosis and treatment. Vitamin D deficient patients have an inferior event-free and overall survival compared to patients with vitamin D levels within the normal range."

The conclusion of their study should solidify the thought that vitamin D is important. Furthermore, there's some good news if you feel you're vitamin D deficient: It's possible to restore healthy levels of vitamin D by starting a daily routine of VitaCal-Mag D from TriVita dangerous health problems. However, you must have the highest quality, and most absorbable vitamin D for optimum bone, heart and brain health; TriVita's VitalCal-Mag D fits the bill.

New Year Weight Loss

It’s that time of year; the time when New Year’s Resolutions are made with conviction and diets are promised. You’ll commit yourself to losing weight in 2010, to eating right and exercising, to being dedicated to this resolution unlike earlier years. But, in the end, the resolution will fall by the wayside within two months and you’ll be right back to where you started with.

So, how do you actually stick with this 2010 New Year’s weight loss resolution?

Stick to a plan. If you are a visual learner, then it might be best to get yourself a white board or chart where you can keep track of your workouts and your meals, and visually see how you are sticking to your goals. If you can have a daily calorie goal, or perhaps a daily workout goal, then you will achieve far better results than if you just ‘wing it.’

If you can see where you are progressing and where you need to improve, it will be easier for you to stay on track and motivated. If nothing else, taking the time to write down your daily accomplishments and tracking your progress will allow you some time for yourself to reflect on the day.

Do not sabotage yourself! Weight loss doesn’t happen overnight, and making a New Year’s weight loss resolution must come with a reality check. Don’t expect to lose a bunch of weight during January so that you can take it easy the rest of the year. Be realistic with your goals. If you jump in head first without considering what your body can endure, and what you can easily manage, then you will be setting yourself up for failure.

The biggest mistakes that everyone makes with their New Year’s weight loss resolutions are unrealistic goals. If you haven’t been to the gym in a while, pace yourself. I can’t stress this enough. Do not expect for your New Year’s resolution to magically happen during the first month of 2010.

Maintain a healthy diet throughout the year. Instead of completely changing your diet between December 31 and January 1st, ease yourself into a new lifestyle of healthy eating. Once again, this is an area where you can easily sabotage yourself. Be realistic with your eating goals, and take your time with making the right eating decisions.

Your New Year’s weight loss resolution will be kept this year. It can be stuck to and you will lose weight, but you have to be realistic with your goals and your abilities. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times, do not sabotage yourself! This is the greatest and most common mistake that we all make, and it can so easily be avoided.

Omega 3 and Omega Prime

Omega 3 essential fatty acids (EFA's) are polyunsaturated fats, the so-called "good fats". These important fats cannot be made by the human body, they must be obtained from foods or supplemental sources. In addition, these fats are required for normal development of the brain, eyes and nerve tissue in humans. Clinical studies show that Omega 3 benefits come primarily from DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid).

"Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid. It is found in cold water fatty fish and fish oil supplements. DHA is essential for the proper functioning of our brains as adults, and for the development of our nervous system and visual abilities during the first 6 months of life. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids are part of a healthy diet that helps lower risk of heart disease." [1]

"Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is one of several omega-3 fatty acids used by the body. It is found in cold water fatty fish and in fish oil supplements. Increased intake of EPA has beneficial effects on coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, and inflammatory disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis." [2]

According to the articles I have read and research I have done, the majority of people in the Western world, do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids in their diet. Why? In my opinion, our typical daily meals do not contain omega-3 fatty acids. You have to go away form the norm, and think outside the box. It takes a little more thought, and I know it's hard with all of the struggles we are faced with on a daily basis. It's easier to just call and order a pizza, or swing into your favorite fast food restaurant!

If you're like the majority of individuals and your health does not come to mind when you've had a long hard day, do what I do, and take Omega Prime, by TriVita. Omega Prime is a supplement that can get you your daily requirements of omega-3 fatty acids. If you don't like fish, Omega Prime can be a great addition to your diet.

New Year Weight Loss Plan

How can you make you make your weight loss resolutions successful. Here are 8 steps that may help.

1. Educate Yourself About Weight Loss

What is it that you are after? Are you interested in just dropping digits on the weight scales? Or are you interested to achieve a sexier and better defined body. A well defined body can only be achieved by losing fat. As such, ensure that all of your weight loss comes from fat loss. Your resolution should be focused on weight loss that comes from losing fat.

2. Do Not Make a Half Hearted Weight Loss Resolution

Make sure you really want it with all your heart. How much are you willing to sacrifice for it? You cannot gain something of value without sacrifice.

3. Do Not Make a Resolution That is the Spur of the Moment

Just because everyone else is trying to lose weight or because its trendy during the New Year, does not mean that you should do the same. Following the crowd for the sake of it will not take you very far.

4. Tell Others About Your Weight Loss Resolution and Become Accountable

Tell others what you want to achieve. This keeps you accountable. You will be more likely to be honest to your word if you know others are watching. Tell others how much fat you want to lose.

5. Have a Plan to Follow Through with Your Weight Loss Resolutions

Have a concrete plan to lose weight or get fit. For instance, how many days a week are you going to exercise. When are you going to exercise. Plan your meals. Without a plan, there is no possible way that you are going to be able to achieve anything.

6. Make Sure That Your Weight Loss Resolutions are SMART

Your resolution must be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time Based. This is the only way to make your goals work. For instance, your weight loss SMART resolution could go like this;

“I want to lose 20 pounds of fat within the next 6 months”.

Note that the goal is fat loss and not weight loss. Any weight loss that is attributed to fat loss is sustainable. The American College of Sports Medicine advocates fat loss of 1 to 2 pound per week. As such, losing 20 pounds of fat in 5 months is healthy, realistic and attainable.

7. Write Your Weight Loss Resolutions Down

Writing your resolutions down is the single biggest step you could take to move you closer to success. Write down how much of fat you want to lose within a year.

8. Break Down Your Weight Loss Efforts into Smaller Steps

Plan what you are going to do in the coming week. Plan your meals for tomorrow. Target to lose at least 1 pound of fat in a week. Break down the larger goals into smaller steps that you could bite into.

9. Create a Support System

Get the support of the people closest to you. You will need the support of your spouse. Losing weight is going to be tough and you are going to need all the support you can get.

10. Keep Track of Progress

Be diligent of recording your journey. This way, you can look back in retrospect and ascertain why your efforts are working or not working. Keep a diary as this is the best thing that you can do to move you closer to your weight loss goals.

Simple Weight Loss Tips

For many years now, the number one New Year's resolution has been weight loss, and it seems like it hasn't changed this year (2010).

I was watching some television over the holidays and many shows had surveys regarding your number one New Year's resolution. And overwhelmingly, the number one answer was losing weight. Does that surprise you? Well, if you're like me, it should not be a big surprise, since obesity is running rampant over our culture.

It don't have to look very far to see how fat we, as a society have become, and I'm not immune to this phenomenon. Yes, that's right I could stand to lose a few pounds, especially after all of the holiday parties. So, how do we get started to shed those unwanted pounds? Well, Brazos Minshew, Chief Science Officer of TriVita, has written an article for the TriVita Weekly Wellness Report giving us some simple and effective ways to to lose weight. I posted the article in its entirety.

How to Jump-Start Your Weight Loss by Brazos Minshew

Weight loss is the number one "resolution" people make when they decide to improve their health. When weight loss occurs it comes from a loss of body mass: water, fat, lean body tissue and bones. Wouldn't it be great to focus weight loss on fat only? It certainly would. In fact, weight loss that selectively targets fat and preserves or increases lean body tissues and bones is the only way to permanently lose weight.

Sounds difficult, right? Well, don't worry: We have a solution!

Suicidal weight loss
Many people lose weight rapidly by starving themselves. I call this suicidal weight loss for three reasons:

  1. Rapid weight loss is water loss; water loss is dehydration and dehydration is death.
  2. Rapid weight loss comes from lean body tissue (brain, heart, muscle, collagen, etc.). Sarcopenia (age-related loss of lean body tissue) is death.
  3. Rapid weight loss comes from bone. Bone loss is osteoporosis; osteoporosis kills more women in North America than breast cancer!

Rapid weight loss by starving yourself is slow suicide.

Lifetime weight control
An alternative to this kind of weight loss madness is to select a strategy that focuses on weight loss from fat only. This is not done by accident. We must select fat loss by choice. This choice implies knowledge; knowledge means that we must learn the lesson of obesity and battle it for the rest of our lives.

Calories - Obesity in simplistic terms is about consuming more calories than you burn in a single day. Multiply these extra calories over time and you have what we all see: an obesity epidemic. However, it is not merely the number of calories we eat; we must include the right kind of calories for lifetime weight control. Organizations such as the American Heart Association and the America Cancer Society recommend eating 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily (5 for children, 7 for women and 9 for men). These are the best calories.

Movement - Our body is made to move. Daily exercise is necessary for lifetime weight control and targeted fat loss. Aerobic training for 30 minutes on most days of the week and weight training (resistance training) 2 to 5 times per week will keep the fires of your metabolism burning fat.

Other tips:

  • Deep breathing for 20 minutes daily reduces fat-building hormones like cortisol.
  • Get your sleep: The less you sleep, the more you will weigh.
  • Eat small meals: Eating more than 400 calories at a single meal causes our cells to suffocate from insulin.

Why supplementation is important
Taking certain supplements can help you lose weight, but you really have to be careful! One supplement that was heavily advertised on television was shown to cause 74% weight loss from lean body tissue. Another supplement that seemed to be the most popular weight loss supplement of the time caused 55% lean body loss. That is suicidal weight loss!

Beneficial supplements exist. For example, Leanology Weight Loss Capsules were studied in a top-of-the-line, scientific clinical trial through Arizona State University. They were shown to reduce weight entirely from fat! Yes, 100% of the weight loss came from fat!

Also, the plant antioxidant ECGC (found in Energy Now!) can increase metabolism by over 200 calories per gram.

My favorite fat loss supplement to "jump-start" a weight loss program is Vital C. This is primarily because of the nature of fat: a toxic dumping ground for chemicals and poisons your body could not eliminate. Vital C is a pH-balanced form of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). Ascorbic acid neutralizes many of the toxins we store in our fat cells. For rapid weight loss that targets fat cells, use a Vitamin C Flush, Energy Now! and, especially, Leanology.

Conclusion
Good health only comes from healthy living. Take time to learn the rules of healthy living. Practice healthy habits every day. Soon, the "deposits" you make into your health account will begin to yield real dividends: a lean body functioning at peak efficiency!
