Weight Loss

Desperate to lose Weight

It’s amazing to me the number of weight loss/ fitness gimmicks that are out there and even more amazing that people spend so much money on them. People talk about the secrets of weight loss, well the secret is, there is no secret nutrient, no magic pill or miraculous piece of equipment. Good nutrition is just not that difficult. If it were we would have died off a long time ago. I see in magazines, on the Internet and on t.v. programs that are basically just portion controlled microwave dinners. Nobody needs to spend that kind of money on food that isn’t even very healthy.

Here is what my simple plan would be. you can buy plastic plates that are divided into sections, so I would suggest buying these plates and "labeling" them as proteins for the larger section, vegetables for one of the smaller sections and fruit for the smallest section. Only put what will fit and no piling and balancing 12 inch high "food mountains."

There is the food component, now for exercise. Do something active for at least 20 minutes per day and incorporate some sort of resistance training in there 3 – 4 times per week. If you can do this (and I know you can), you can achieve your weight loss and fitness goals.

Omega Prime

I've read some articles stating that about 90 percent of Americans are at risk for serious health threats such as heart disease and stroke because of clogged arteries and poor circulation? One of the main reasons for this blockage in your blood flow is trans fats. These chains of fat link together and damage the enzyme that regulates your circulation. However, by introducing omega-3 fatty acids that support healthy blood flow, you can protect yourself from these dangerous and possibly deadly conditions.

It's important to eat a healthy, balanced diet in order for the body to work at its optimum level and in depth research studies continue to highlight the importance of further avoiding trans fats.

There are many reports about Atherosclerosis,a disease in which plaque (plak) builds up on the insides of your arteries, which explain how consuming trans fats can lead to clogged arteries. It's the carbon chains within the fats that are unnaturally developed and thus interfere with the function of an important enzyme that regulates blood flow.

While trans fats cause clogged arteries, there are many good fats which the body uses that can be found in omega-3 nutritional supplements and individuals can receive the full range of these benefits by following a trans fat-free diet and exercise plan.

Lifestyle changes, such as eating a healthy diet, exercising and supplementation, are often the first line of defense in treating atherosclerosis. However sometimes, medication or surgical procedures may be recommended as well.

As a vocal proponent of preventative medicine rather than prescription drugs and/or surgical procedures, I prefer taking an all natural omega-3 essential fatty acid supplement, like TriVita's Omega Prime. Omega Prime helps meet the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines: one daily dose of Omega Prime provides the amount of Omega-3 recommended by the AHA for healthy individuals, as well as for those who have heart disease or the risk of it.

TriVita's Omega Prime contains a premier and unique blend of four different types of the most highly regarded Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) oils – Fish, Flaxseed, Evening Primrose and Perilla Seed. It also uses only contaminant-free fish oil that has undergone a 10 stage distilling process.

Omega Prime's EFAs support our wellness in so many ways; it all starts with help in reducing runaway inflammation. It's a fact that runaway inflammation can lead to a variety of serious health problems within the body involving the heart, arteries, lungs, joints and more. Start today on a road to the prevention of heart disease and stroke; prevention may be your best medicine.

You can find additional information on Omega Prime and all of the TriVita nutritional products by going to http://trivitaproduct.info. TriVita ensures that you get the safest, freshest, and most effective products available on the market today. Obesity, The Sad Facts

Desperate to lose Weight

Obesity is one of the biggest health challenges we face nowadays. Almost 1 in 4 adults in England are currently obese and the experts predict that if we do not do anything about it three-quarters of the population could suffer the ill effects of excess weight within the next 10 to 15 years.

The problem is growing rapidly and the costs are soaring. The NHS estimated cost to treat obese and overweight individuals is around £4.2 billion and is forecast to more than double by 2050.

Obesity is a medical condition when a person is carrying too much body fat for their height and sex to such a degree that it rapidly increases the risk of diseases leading to reduced life expectancy. Obesity causes about 30,000 deaths a year in England alone.

The standard expression of body size is the body mass index (BMI). It represents body weight (in kilograms) relative to body height (in metres squared).

By the official standard being obese is having a BMI over 30.

Our lifestyle has changed rapidly. We no longer walk to work or school or eat home-made food. We replaced it with cars and ready-made high-in-fat and high-in-sugar meals. We also eat ’super-sized’ portions at home or eat out in restaurants offering eat-as-much-as-you-can meals.

So, it is no wonder that we are getting fatter and developing heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and osteoarthritis.

Tackle the problem may not be easy but with a bit of determination we should be on our way to a healthier Britain.

To achieve a healthy body we have to permanently change our eating and exercise habits. It is a long-term lifestyle change rather than a quick fix fad and it can provide sustained weight loss and minimize the risk of chronic diseases.

Incorporating exercise in your lifestyle such as brisk walking, cycling, dancing, swimming or Yoga at least three times a week for 20-30 minutes will be a great start to weight loss.

Adding to your daily meals fresh fruits and vegetables, wholemeal bread and pasta, brown rice, nuts and seeds will bring gratification and will result in fewer cravings of fatty and sugary snacks.

Drinking plenty of still water will keep you hydrated and it will reduce your urge to eat when you are not hungry.

In no time you will feel better and see the difference. You will be on your way to live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.

desperate to Lose Weight

Desperate to lose Weight

The principle of Dukan Diet, also called Protal Diet, is to fight obesity by eating lean protein and reducing carbohydrates and lipids until desired weight loss is achieved. This plan does not provide quantitative restrictions, but only qualitative restrictions. The sharp reduction of carbohydrates and lipids requires the body to tap into its fat reserves. The absorption of protein allows the body to retain muscle mass. Furthermore, proteins are much less caloric than fat and you will appreciate the fact that you can eat as much lean protein as you want.

Phase 1 of Dukan Diet

In this phase of the diet, the foods allowed are:

  • Lean meat: veal, beef, horse
  • Some offal: liver, kidney and tongue of veal and beef
  • Fresh or smoked fish, surimi
  • Seafood (shellfish, crustaceans);
  • Poultry: chicken, turkey (except duck and goose) without the skin
  • Lean ham and cold cuts
  • Eggs
  • Dairy products to 0% fat, skimmed milk
  • 3 tablespoons of oat bran every day

The foods should be cooked without fat and can be eaten in unlimited quantities, except the egg yolks (risk of cholesterol) and dairies (no more than 1 kg per day). Are also allowed, in reasonable quantities: gherkins, herbs and spices, vinegar, mustard oil, paraffin oil, etc ... You must drink 8 glasses of water every day. Diet soft drinks are also permitted. This phase lasts from 5 to 10 days depending on the level of obesity and the candidate's motivation ...

Phase 2 of Dukan Diet

In this phase you get to eat the phase 1 foods, plus the following:

  • Vegetables, except avocado and artichoke
  • Soy and tofu, pressed, smoked or silky

However, carrots and beets should be consumed in moderation and not at every meal. The foods must also be cooked without fat. Meat and fish are still more important than vegetables. Water consumption remains very important.. Salads can be accompanied by fat-free sauces. Phase 2 consists in alternating 5 days of protein (PV) and vegetables with 5 days of pure protein (PP), as you did in phase 1. This phase should last until you reach your desired weight.

Phase 3 of Dukan Diet

The foods are the same as those of phase 2, plus:

  • 2 slices of bread a day
  • 1 serving of hard cheese per day
  • 1 serving of fruit per day
  • 2 servings of starches per week
  • 2 free dinner meals per week

During the free dinner meals, all foods are allowed (including previously forbidden foods such as sugar or oil) on the express condition that you take only one serving of each dish and that you choose between cheese and dessert. You cannot have two free meals on the same day.

Phase 4 of Dukan Diet One day per week, on Thursday, according to Dr. Dukan, it is necessary to have a "PP" day as you were doing during Phase 1. Dr. Dukan recommends that Phase 4 will last 10 days lost per kilo (2 lbs) during the first 2 phases, for example, 150 days for an individual who has lost 15 kilos.

Life After Dukan Diet

After reaching your goal, you will resume a normal diet with two exceptions:

  • You need to maintain a "Thursday PP day" (as in phase 1, eggs and dairy products not allowed)
  • You will eat 3 tablespoons of oat bran every day for the rest of your life

According to Dr. Dukan, oat bran reduces the absorption of calories in the small intestine.

Weight Loss Programs

Desperate to lose Weight

Weight reduction is something that many if not all are concerned. With the skyrocketing population of folk dying of a number of medical problems that is why most of us now are getting into the hype of weight reduction and at the same time to fitness.

However, how would you know if a weight loss program actually works? Like every other products, you may just know if it is efficient or not after you attempted it for a number of days. If it won’t work, you may decide to switch your weight loss program.

You can find a number of weight loss programs by just typing it on the search engine. The nice thing here is that their products have testimonials. However, you are not sure whether the testimonials are true or simply exaggerated paid comments. So whom are you going to trust?

Since it appears that you are fighting to shed pounds, let me just give you some guides on properly selecting the healthy yet effective weight loss program before you even try it. First of all, a bona fide weight reduction plan does not let you lose more than five pounds per week. Don’t take this statement negatively. At the same time, likelihood is you are going to gain these pounds back instantly after you stopped the program. Anything more than this is already not healthy or not advisable.

Next thing is that when a weight loss regimen that promotes no effort weight reduction is also a huge lie. The reason being because you have got to burn calories and stored fats to help you toward weight loss. You also need to take some food in moderation to keep your body from accumulating calories that could be a major contributor to weight gain.

Eventually, a correct and healthy weight loss plan must not and will not ask you to take slimming tablets. The cause of this is that slimming pills can be very costly and also taking in the not prescribed slimming tablets may lead to some chemical imbalances to your body. So, may have bad side effects to you. Don’t forget that you continue following my posts for extra tips. Remember that you should not just go into any weight loss regimen. Properly check the program first so that you will have a healthy weight loss journey.

Sonoran Bloom Nopalea

There are many drugs prescribed by doctors to help fight inflammation. These anti-inflammatory drugs have side effects for many users. Celebrex is one of the most popular anti-inflammatory drugs. However, there have been may side effects related to this drug. Some of those side effects reported by the drug companies include diarrhea, dizziness, indigestion, stomach pain, gas, nausea, or headache.

Celebrex is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) known as a COX-2 inhibitor used to reduce the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in adults. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

There are two enzymes in the body called COX-1 and COX-2. COX-1 helps regulate the normal cell function in the stomach and blood. COX-2 plays some role in causing arthritis pain and inflammation. Celebrex is the first product to target the COX-2 enzyme, inhibiting only that enzyme.

Although Celebrex may be prescribed by your doctor to help fight inflammation, I believe the side effects this medication causes may be more harmful than the actual benefits it can provide. Fighting inflammation, in my opinion, should not have to come with the risk of damaging other parts of your body. Fighting the pain caused by inflammation should be a natural process. After all, didn't God create a body that is capable to heal itself naturally?

Natural pain relief, from inflammation and other sources, comes from inside your body, from all the cells that make up this complex system. However, you cells have to be fed the right type of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to keep it functioning at a high level. Eating healthy meals comprised of fruits and vegetables will help the cells within your body flourish. I believe it's the unhealthy, junk food, we eat that destroys our healthy cells.

Taking daily supplements and/or drinking vitamin and mineral rich wellness drinks is another way to get the nutrients your body needs. One wellness drink that comes to mind is TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™.

Nopalea™ (No--pah lay' uh) blends antioxidant-rich Nopal cactus super fruit with naturally sweet Agave nectar to bring you a deliciously unique concentrated wellness drink. Harnessing the power of betalains, a rare and powerful class of antioxidants that flourishes in the Nopal fruit, Nopalea delivers scientifically proven health benefits.

Betalains are the pigments that give the Nopal cactus fruit its vibrant pink color. But that's just the beginning. They're also natural antioxidants—and they're only found in a few of the world's plants.

The Nopal fruit isn't just included in this small group of special plants, it actually leads the group by containing one of the highest amounts of betalains in all of nature.

When these betalains enter into your system, by drinking Nopalea™, they begin to restore your vitality on a cellular level. By helping the body reduce the toxins surrounding your cells and enabling essential nutrients to reach each cell, the betalains in Nopalea™ can reduce the inflammation in your body that leads to disease.

As mentioned earlier, natural pain relief, from inflammation and other sources, comes from inside your body, from all the cells that make up this complex system. I believe its the natural healing of your cells, through an all natural product that God has put at our disposal, that relieves pain and fights inflammation.

There is NO reason any one should have to walk around in pain that's caused by inflammation. There are natural products that can help your fight inflammation and give you the pain relief you need; Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ is one such product.

Drink Nopalea™ daily to help:

  • Protect against premature aging
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Promote optimal cellular health
  • Detoxify the body

For thousands of years, the people of the Sonoran Desert have tapped into the power of its native healing plants. Now with Nopalea™, you can too.

Stop the pain and help fight inflammation with Nopalea™. Don't take a man-made drug, like Celebrex, to fight something that is not man-made, but rather caused naturally within your body. Don't risk damaging other parts of your body, but rather protect the most complex design at a cellular level.

Weight Loss - The Glycemic Index

Desperate to lose Weight - Glycemic Index

Today let's talk a little about carbs. As you hopefully know by now, carbs are not the enemy. You just need to choose the right kinds, at the right time of day.

People are often surprised at how simple it is: choose natural carbs over processed (man-made) carbs.

That is, anything picked from the ground or the tree is natural, such as fruits and veggies, potatoes and yams, beans, brown rice, oats, etc. And anything processed should be limited or avoided, such as white bread and pasta, chips and crackers, pretzels, etc.

Here is a really simple chart that we use, so you'll always know which foods to combine at specific times of the day for the very best results. Click here to see chart

Our really easy-to-follow Nutrition Planner on the Fast Track website follows the same simple guidelines - it's awesome, you're going to love it.

But, one of the first questions I always get from new Fast Track members goes something like this, "What about the Glycemic Index, how come Fast Track doesn't use it?" And here's why...

The Glycemic Index (GI) has received a lot of attention lately as the standard for determining "good" carbs vs. "bad" carbs. But it's actually quite misleading.

The GI ranks foods based on how much the blood sugar increases after it is consumed. The higher the number on the GI scale, the greater the increase in blood sugar. When blood sugar goes up, insulin levels rise. And because high levels of insulin are associated with increased fat storage and suppressed fat burning, it is said that eating high GI foods can make you fatter than eating low GI foods.

However, the mistake in adhering to the GI for your carb choices is this: The index is based on those carbs being eaten by themselves and on an empty stomach, something you should never do if you want to lose fat. You always want to a.) combine a protein source with your carbs, and b.) eat frequently throughout the day.

For example, a potato has a very high GI, but if you combine it with a chicken breast, the GI of the combo is much lower than the potato by itself. Rice cakes also have a high GI. But if you spread a little peanut butter on them, the fat slows the absorption of the carbs, thereby lowering the GI of the combination.

So, when you combine a protein source with your carbs at every meal, and you eat frequently throughout the day, like you should for fat loss, the GI becomes insignificant.

So, instead of using the Glycemic Index as the criteria for choosing your carbs, as so many people do, simply choose natural carbs over those that are processed.

Again, natural carbs are those picked from the ground or a tree: fruits and vegetables, oatmeal, yams, brown rice, potatoes, beans, lentils, yams, etc.

Processed carbs are "man-made," and you want to especially limit those that are white and refined, such as the pasta, white bread, bagels, crackers, white rice, pretzels, chips, and refined sugars.

(Note: refer to the chart and you'll see that there are some "acceptable" processed carbs that are the exception to the rule, such as 100% whole grain bread.)

Key points to remember:

The GI is based on those carbs being eaten by themselves and on an empty stomach, something you should never do if you want to lose fat.

When you combine a protein source with your carbs at every meal, and you eat frequently throughout the day, like you should for fat loss, the GI becomes insignificant.

Pretty simple huh, Just wait until you have access to the Fast Track Nutrition Planner, you will not believe how simple we've made everything for you. And you'll have your very own trainer available to review your meals to offer suggestions for improvement, as well as hold you accountable.

It's no wonder why we have close to a 100% success rate! In my next e- mail I'm going to discuss the one group of foods that is THE most effective for fat loss, including really easy ways to include them in your meals each day. Stay tuned...

Chronic Pain and Emotional Pain

Chronic Pain and Emotional Pain

One of the most difficult things that you can experience with chronic pain are emotions that drag you down. Chronic pain is so draining at times that it just becomes depressing to people who are dealing with the chronic pain.

In fact for many people the biggest part of the challenge is learning how to deal with the emotions. If you have never had chronic pain you can at least relate to the idea that if something is really bothering you it fills your mind. But if something else comes along and occupies your mind, the thing that was bothering you fades away some. So the mind can amplify or it can minimize the thing that is bothering you.

Emotional pain amplifies chronic physical pain. Part of the strategy for dealing with the chronic pain is helping to decrease the emotional pain that a person is having. Simply put, if you can do anything to help a person feel better, their emotional pain decreases. If their emotional pain decreases then their chronic pain will decrease.

Obviously if you can make the chronic physical pain decrease that would be the most powerful effect on the emotional pain.

Fortunately there are some natural things, nutrients, that can help in this battle with chronic pain. One of the most powerful is a group of antioxidants called “betalains”. Now these betalains are actually part of a unique food that is actually a drink. This drink currently is the most powerful source of betalains that I know of. Fortunately, you can try this drink at no risk to you and really experience the benefit. No risk because in the rare possibility that you didn’t like it, you can send it back with no questions asked, your money gladly returned----but I’m willing to bet you wouldn’t send it back.

Here’s where you can get it: Pain Relief Product By the way, it helps you in lots of other ways besides chronic pain. Imagine what something so powerful could do for you!

So all you have to lose . . .is your chronic pain!!! And you can get your focus back in the process.

Weight Loss

As I was reading the article that I've posted below, I was just wondering if the users of food stamps to buy TriVita's Leanology weight loss system could get an extra tax credit. Since obesity id running rampant in our society, it only makes sense the the government would consider doing something like that.

Here's the article I was talking about.

Food stamp users risk weight gain: study

"NEW YORK (Aug 18, 2009) - Packing on the pounds may be an unintended consequence of the U.S. Food Stamp Program, according to research that shows that getting food stamps may help contribute to obesity, at least among women.

'We can't prove that the Food Stamp Program causes weight gain, but this study suggests a strong linkage,' Jay Zagorsky, a research scientist at Ohio State University's Center for Human Resource Research, Columbus, noted in a university-issued statement. Food stamps, the major U.S. anti-hunger program, help poor people buy groceries.

Zagorsky, along with Patricia Smith of the University of Michigan in Dearborn, studied weight changes over 14 years in nearly 4,000 people in the food stamp program and almost 6,000 not in the program.

They found that the typical female user of food stamps was heavier than the non-user, after taking into account a variety of factors that might influence body weight.

Specifically, the researchers calculated body mass index, or BMI, a measure of weight in relation to height used to gauge how fat or thin a person is. Female food stamp users, they found, had a BMI 1.15 points higher than a similar woman who did not participate in the food stamp program.

For the average American woman standing 5 feet 4 inches tall this means an increase in 5.8 pounds of body weight.

Zagorsky and Smith also found that BMI increased faster when participants were getting food stamps than when they were not, and increased more the longer they were in the food stamp program.

The average food stamp users saw their BMI go up 0.4 points per year when they were receiving food stamps, compared to 0.07 points per year before and 0.2 points per year after they no longer received food stamps.

'While food stamps may help fight hunger, they may have the unintended consequence of encouraging weight gain among women,' Zagorsky said in the statement. 'Every way we looked at the data, it was clear that the use of food stamps was associated with weight gain,' he added.

'While this association does not prove that the Food Stamp Program causes weight gain, it does suggest that program changes to encourage the consumption of high-nutrient, low-calorie foods should be considered,' Zagorsky and Smith note in the latest issue of Economics and Human Biology.

In 2008, roughly 28 million people -- or almost 1 in 11 Americans -- received benefits from the food stamp program in a given month.

Food stamp participants, the researchers say, may choose cheap, calorie-dense, high-fat, processed foods over healthier, more expensive food, maybe because food stamps don't provide enough money to buy healthy foods, Zagorsky contends.

In 2002, the average recipient received $81 in food stamps per month. 'That figure was shocking to me,' Zagorsky said. 'I think it would be very difficult for a shopper to regularly buy healthy, nutritious food on that budget.'

Modifying the food stamp program to include economic incentives to buy and eat healthier foods 'might be an important tool for fighting obesity,' Zagorsky offers.

People on food stamps, for example, could be required to take a course on nutrition and food stamp users who purchase fresh fruit and vegetables and other low-fat products could be given more benefits or receive discounts on these products, he said.

SOURCE: Economics and Human Biology, 2009.

I would have to agree with Zagorsky that "modifying the food stamp program to include economic incentives to buy and eat healthier foods might be an important tool for fighting obesity." I also maintain that buying nutritious weight loss products like what Leanology has to offer should be included within the scope of this incentive program.

If you haven't heard of Leanology's three step weight loss system, or TriVita, it's probably because you haven't done any "weight loss" searches on Google. Leanology is becoming a very popular weight loss system, as more and more people try this product and then share the results with the rest of the world.

Leanology Weight Loss Capsules are no ordinary "diet pills." They are clinically proven to help reduce body weight and fat and are made with natural, stimulant-free ingredients including Converta™, The Fat Burning Accelerator. Leanology Weight Loss Capsules help:

  • Convert stored fat into energy
  • Reduce food cravings
  • Promote lean body mass
  • Increase energy

In a clinical study of Leanology Capsules - administered by Arizona State University - adults who used Leanology Weight Loss Capsules lost 76% more body weight and 132% more body fat than their counterparts who didn't take the capsules.

If you're looking to loose weight but constantly struggle through diet and regular exercise, it's time to use a natural weight loss supplement. And what can be better than Leanology's weight loss capsules. To learn more about Leanology and weight loss, go to http://trivitaproducts.info/weightloss.

Weight Loss and Alcohol

Desperate to lose Weight

Many people ask me if weight loss is affected by alcohol. A couple drinks on the weekend and or on special occasions probably won't have any major impact on your fat loss results (although I would encourage you to consider the mind set that EVERYTHING you do either helps or hurts).

A drink or two on occasions is a part of enjoying life for many people, and it's important to find lifestyle balance for the sake of your long term happiness and success.

However, I do not recommend drinking every day.

"A couple every day" adds a LOT of extra calories to your daily diet. If you're talking about two 150-calorie beers, that's 300 calories extra a day or 2100 extra calories a week.

Multiply that out for a year and you have 109,200 extra calories! WOW! That's potentially 31.2 pounds of fat in a year.

If you DO account for the calories in those drinks, then you have another conundrum - the alcohol calories displace good valuable food calories...

Drinking gives you empty alcohol calories with virtually no nutritional value (and some negative value in more way than one), while pushing out important vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, fiber and other good stuff.

Alcohol also inhibits fat burning. While your liver is busy metabolising alcohol, it puts your fat metabolism on hold. That's why I do NOT recommend any drinking when you are on a fat loss program (at least if you are serious about it).

When you are on a regular, year-round lifestyle/maintenance program I recommend that if you drink, you do so in moderation, keep it to special occasions or weekends and remember to factor in those calories to your daily intake.

By the way, there's a major risk to drinking every day - even just one or two - that most people don't even think about:

Daily drinking is habit forming. Anything you do every day easily becomes a habit that is difficult to break later.

On the other hand, if you could establish the habit of eating 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables and getting some exercise every single day, those would be habits worth forming! :-)

Weight Loss

Desperate lose Weight

Weight loss has a number of immediate benefits for your body. With a proper body weight you are much more active and energetic. People are generally considered overweight due to the over abundance of fat in their body. Thus to reduce your weight, you need to get rid of the fats stored in your body. This will leave you feeling much better and produce many advantages. These are; better cardio-vascular functioning, higher metabolism rate and digestion, better nutrition and fitness, etc. Many people want to lose weight to look good and achieve a better shape for their body. Let us look at some of the efficient ways to lose weight.

Exercises - Exercises can show very good results for reducing your body weight. Proper exercises will burn down the fats in your body and prevent further accumulation as well. Aerobics and some of the other cardiovascular exercises can be the way to go for losing weight. These enhance metabolism and your body is able to burn down the fats much more easily. Try starting with simple exercises like cycling, jogging, swimming, running, stair climbing, and add other exercises on a regular basis to get the best results.

Diet - This is also a crucial factor to see weight loss most effectively. Try to avoid anything that contains fat or high sugar levels. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily. Go for smaller portions of food instead of a bigger meal. Avoid junk food and pre-processed food completely. These will help you to get rid of a few pounds of fat over time and result in a more efficient weight loss for you. Never give up eating as it will only make you weaker and can cause severe problems. .

Sleep - Along with good exercises and a good diet, sleep is also very necessary. Sleep helps your body to rest and therefore function better. Regular sleep patterns will enhance metabolism and digestion to help you with losing weight effectively.

Health Supplements - There are various supplements that you can go for as well. Some have gained a good deal of popularity owing to the results they can provide you, but I highly recommend you always try to do a good amount of research on the product that you are planning to use and then check with your Doctor to make sure it will not show you any adverse effects. Products that offer to reduce your weight in a couple of days may be something that you need to stay away from.

Make sure you are aware of all the above points and only then go for the option that best suits you. Regular exercises and a good diet are the most effective ways to achieve your goals.

Vitamin B-12

According to many sources, doctor prescribed medications cause adverse affects to the human body. Some of the medications that deplete vitamin b-12 over time include, "Anti-inflammatory medications - inhalant, systemic, and topical corticosteroids; Antibiotic medications - aminoglycosides; Antibiotic medications - sulfa drugs; Antibiotic medications - macrolides; Antibiotic medications - penicillin derivatives," [1] and a whole host of others, too large to mention in this article.

The medications listed above are not only depleting the all important vitamin b-12, but other vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamins B9 and B6, and important minerals such as calcium, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), magnesium, melatonin, potassium, protein and amino acid, selenium, and zinc, to mention a few. Additional information is available on the University of Maryland Medical Center web site (www.umm.edu).

From the UMM web site, here's a quote about vitamin B12 deficiency:

"Obvious symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency are rare because it takes years to develop complications associated with long-term depletion of this nutrient. Irritability, weakness, numbness, anemia, loss of appetite, headache, personality changes, and confusion are some of the signs and symptoms associated with vitamin B12 depletion. Low levels of this vitamin may also be associated with an increased risk of colon cancer, heart disease, brain disorders, and birth defects." [1]

I know it says that obvious symptoms of vitamin B12 are rare, however, if you're taking a combination of the doctor prescribed medications listed above, there's a chance that the depletion process could become more aggressive over time. Since many adults are taking, or will be in the future, multiple medications, understanding the side effects should become more of a priority.

"The average person in North America is on about six different prescription medications by age 65. Each of these medications is designed to complete a specific body function that does not work or that no longer works as well as it needs to for health. These body functions require specific nutrients as fuel." - Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer

You're not alone when it comes to taking multiple, as stated by Mr. Minshew. That's the reason so many health conscious individuals suggest taking precautionary measures like taking daily supplements, like TriVita's Sublingual B-12. Taking a vitamin B12 supplement is one of the easiest ways to get your recommended daily dose.

Let me make it perfectly clear, I'm not a doctor or healthcare professional. So before taking any dietary supplement, you should talk to a health care professional or doctor. The information in this article is just to inform people of the health risks related to doctor prescribed medications, and vitamin B12 deficiency. Although my information comes from reliable sources, it's up to the you to verify it.

If you taking multiple medications, find out what effect these man-made drugs are having on your body. There may be alternatives to these drugs. Doctors may be treating your symptoms, but do they really care about the long term side effects?

In my opinion, taking a b12 supplement on a daily basis is a must. To learn more about the sublingual vitamin b12, its patented delivery system, Dr. Libby, and/or TriVita, visit the vitamin b12 web site.

Weigth Loss - Walking

Walking To lose Weight

Three universal goals most of us share are: to live longer, to live free of illness and to control our weight. Interesting enough, normal walking lets us achieve all three.

In fact, walking may be man's best medicine for slowing the aging process. First, it works almost every muscle in the body, improving circulation to the joints and massaging the blood vessels (keeping them more elastic). Walking also helps us maintain both our muscle mass and metabolism as we age. It also keeps us young in spirit. For anyone out of shape or unathletically inclined, walking is the no-stress, no-sweat answer to lifelong conditioning.

All it takes is a little time, common sense and a few guidelines. Unfortunately, there's a lot of misinformation floating around regarding fitness walking, weight-loss and dieting.

Walking is one of the best exercise for strengthening bones, controlling weight, toning the leg muscles, maintaining good posture and improving positive self-concept.

People who diet without exercising often get fatter with time. Although your weight may initially drop while dieting, such weight loss consists mostly of water and muscle. When the weight returns, it comes back as fat. To avoid getting fatter over time, increase your metabolism by exercising daily.

To lose weight, it's more important to walk for time than speed. Walking at a moderate pace yields longer workouts with less soreness - - leading to more miles and more calories spent on a regular basis.

High-intensity walks on alternate days help condition one's system. But in a waking, weight-loss program, it's better to be active every day. This doesn't require walking an hour every day. The key is leading an active life-style 365 days a year.

When it comes to good health and weight loss, exercise and diet are interrelated. Exercising without maintaining a balanced diet is no more beneficial than dieting while remaining inactive.

The national research council recommends eating five or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Fruits and vegetables are the ideal diet foods for several reasons. They're relatively low in fat and calories, yet are often high in fiber and rich in essential vitamins and minerals.

Remember that rapid weight-loss consists mostly of water and muscle - - the wrong kind of weight to lose. To avoid this, set more reasonable goals, such as one pound per week.

Carbohydrates are high-octane fuel. They provide energy for movement and help raise internal body metabolism. They're also satisfying. The key is not adding high-fat toppings to your carbohydrates.

It's everyday habits which define our weight and body composition. A three-minute walk after each meal is worth four pounds less body fat annually. Two flights of stairs a day burns off half a pound of body fat in a year. On the other hand, one candy bar eaten daily will cost you 20 pounds annually.

Nutritional Vitamins

"The average person in North America is on about six different prescription medications by age 65. Each of these medications is designed to complete a specific body function that does not work or that no longer works as well as it needs to for health. These body functions require specific nutrients as fuel." - Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer

Being an advocate of natural nutritional vitamin supplements, I've heard many nutrition experts speak on this same subject. However, I've never really done comprehensive research on my own. So in an effort to decipher some of the rhetoric we hear about drugs and their adverse effects on the human body, here is some of the information I've found.

Cholesterol is one of the most highly publicized subjects when it comes to human health. With that in mind, we will focus on cholesterol and the drugs used to control it.

High cholesterol cause a plethora of physical ailments, especially heart attacks or strokes. When trying to control high cholesterol levels, or when trying to maintain healthy levels of cholesterol, doctors may prescribe a statin drug. Most people who are prescribed statins will take them for the rest of their lives.

According to the Mayo Clinic web site, "statins work by slowing your body's production of cholesterol. Your body produces all the cholesterol it needs for digesting food and producing new cells on its own. When this natural production is slowed, your body begins to draw the cholesterol it needs from the food you eat, lowering your total cholesterol." [1]

"Researchers think statins may affect not only your liver's production of cholesterol, but also several enzymes in muscle cells that are responsible for muscle growth. The effects of statins on these cells may be the cause of muscle aches." [1]

Interfering with normal body functions, by introducing a man-made drug, has more, in my opinion, negative affects than positive affects. I believe it's the drug that limits the body's natural ability to use the nutrients it receives from the food we eat, to keep the body functioning at a high rate. This leads us to another side effect of taking statins, neuropathy.

"A famous Danish study of neuropathy as a side effect to statin use concluded that an individual who is a long-term user of statin drugs has anywhere from 4 to 14 times greater risk of developing peripheral neuropathy than a person who does not take statin drugs. Typically, long-term use of statins is defined as 2 years or more but neuropathy can occur even after just a few days of use in a susceptible individual." [2]

One of the reasons for neuropathy side effects may be because statins deplete Coenzyme Q-10 and accessory nutrients. Nutrients, as we may have learned in our health classes, are important to build healthy cells, muscles, and bones. "Studies supporting the efficacy of coenzyme Q10 appear most promising for neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease and certain encephalomyopathies for which coenzyme Q10 has gained orphan drug status." [3]

"If you take statins, you definitely need to take CoQ-10 to balance CoQ-10 levels. People taking statins also benefit from heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids and the B vitamin niacin. Take pure niacin in low doses and always consult a health care provider when combining niacin with statins." [4]

Not all studies are conclusive in their findings, regarding the statins and CoQ10. However, "some research suggests that statin drugs, or HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, a class of drugs used to lower cholesterol, may interfere with the body's production of CoQ10." [5]

There is plenty of information available on the side effects of statins, and other man-made drugs. All you have to due is search Google. In so doing, always consider the source from where your information is found. There are many so-called experts on the Internet, and many of them may be providing incorrect or inconclusive information.

Nutritional vitamin supplements, in my opinion, are the best way to keep your body functioning at a high level. If you're on doctor prescribed medication make sure you check with your doctor before taking any vitamin supplements. I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever professed to acknowledge that fact, but I do understand a few things about nutrition, and living a healthy lifestyle.

TriVita has plenty of high-quality nutritional supplements that can help you enjoy the lifestyle you'd like to live. To learn more about TriVita and/or their nutritional vitamin supplement, click on the previous links. Remember, each body function requires a specific nutrient as fuel.

Chronic Pain and Fatigue

Chronic Pain and Fatigue

One of the most difficult problems with chronic pain is the effect that it has on energy levels. Chronic pain is pain that lasts at least 6 weeks but some would say that chronic pain has to be there for 3 months to use the phrase "chronic pain".

If you can imagine the emotional toll on a person who is feeling pain in a chronic way all of the time, you begin to understand how fatigue accompanies chronic pain.

If you can remember a day when "everything went wrong", somebody is bugging you and keeping you from doing what you want to do -- all day long. This is kind of like what chronic pain does to your ability to have energy. You just plain feel tired all of the time. Chronic pain causes emotional fatigue. Chronic pain also causes physical fatigue.

Fortunately there are many nutrients that help people have more energy when they are dealing with a chronic disease. Chronic pain is no different. There are many nutrients that can make the person with chronic pain feel better.

One of the most powerful are nutrients that are called betalains.

These powerful antioxidants are also called adaptogens. And they help people with chronic pain. But where can you get these betalains?

Fortunately there is a new product from the Sonoran Desert that has these betalains in it. This powerful whole food product is totally safe and totally awesome. There are nothing else like betalains when it comes to dealing with chronic pain.

You can find out more about how to get the wonderful benefits of betalains by going to Pain Relief.

I hope you or a loved one with chronic pain experiences wonderful benefit from this product. It has produced amazing results in people. You can read more about it here Pain Relief.

how to Lose Fat

Desperate To Lose Weight

In order to make the most of your weight loss program, finding the most effective ways to burn fat will maximize your results and minimize your waistline! Follow these 10 tips for fat burning if you want to lose weight and lead a healthier way of life.

  1. Drink more Water - One of the best weight loss secrets is to ditch the sodas and stick to water! Experts say you should drink approximately eight glasses of water a day to stay hydrated and healthy. Instead of turning to calorie-laden or sugar-rich drinks, grab a refreshing glass of water. In addition to flushing toxins out of your system, drinking water encourages you to build muscle.
  2. Eat More Meals - A traditional three-meals-a-day plan just will not cut it if you are in the market to burn fat. Your body is not able to metabolise large meals and will quickly turn any excess into fat. Many experts believe you should eat six small meals a day. Be sure you cut back on your food consumption at each meal, or else you will be doubling your intake—and doubling your fat storage!
  3. Work Out with Weights - One great way to maximize the amount of fat you are burning is to add a weight program to your work out routine. Weight training will not only tone your physique, but will strengthen your body and improve your general health. Lifting weights will also burn calories and fat more quickly than traditional exercising, and it will also boost your metabolism.
  4. Choose Protein - Choose protein-laden foods for boosting your metabolism and enabling your body to burn fat rapidly. In addition to burning fat, consuming a protein-enriched diet will help you rebuild muscle after work outs and maintain leanness of that muscle. Wisely choose proteins for your diet. Take great care to pick proteins low in fat so you do not consume extra calories.
  5. Cut Calories Wisely - It may be tempting to drastically cut your calorie intake when starting a healthy lifestyle. Instead, use a step method when cutting your calorie intake to minimize risk. Reducing calories too quickly results in your body rapidly burning all available calories, which will lower your metabolism. Furthermore, you are more likely to maintain your healthy lifestyle through this step method.
  6. Reward Yourself - When it comes to successfully dieting to burn the most fat, be sure to reward yourself. Everyone has temptations and favourite treats—so allow indulgence. You will be less likely to cheat on your new diet if you grant yourself small rewards. If you are a chocolate lover, treat yourself to a small square of chocolate or single chocolate kiss each evening.
  7. Avoid Marathon Work Outs - The biggest mistake people make when looking to burn fat and lose weight is to have one long, extensive work out session. Instead, break up your work out plan into small chunks throughout the day. Take a brisk walk in the morning, enjoy a work out at lunch, and then exercise more in the evening. In addition to staying active all day long, breaking up your work out will better maintain your metabolism.
  8. Mix It Up - Choosing to engage in a variety of quality exercises will keep your interest and best allow you to maintain your goal of burning fat. Instead of doing the same exercises each day—mix it up! Opt to swim laps one day, jog another, and bike the next. Rotating your activities will not only allow you to experience a variety of athletics, it will also allow you to better tone your body.
  9. Skip Happy Hour - For those individuals who want to burn fat quickly, avoid alcohol. Rich in sugars and carbohydrates, alcohol is a calorie-rich substance. These empty calories can add up quickly and take away from necessary nutrients that should be included in your daily diet. Furthermore, alcohol acts as an inhibitor for burning fat, allowing your body to store it more quickly.
  10. Try a Low GI Diet - A low GI diet is an excellent method of burning fat quickly. This diet encourages individuals to consume high amounts of foods with low rankings on the Glycemic Index. These foods are nutritious and will aid your body in burning fats and calories at a quicker pace. This diet includes many of your favourite fruits, vegetable, meats, dairy, and grain products.

Weight Loss Myths

Desperate To Lose Weight

One day, carbs are the enemy. Next, pills and injections will be the thing to do. After that, everyone will be rushing to detoxify their body of toxins that cause weight gain. It seems everyone is in search of the Holy Grail of weight loss, that mythological easy weight-loss plan that works for everyone.

Before you take the bait on the next fad diet, here are a few weight loss related myths — and the cold hard facts — from some local experts in the field.

The myth: The less you eat, the more weight you will lose.

The fact: There is no reason to be hungry all the time in order to lose weight. You are better off to eat 5-7 small meals than 3 larger ones.

The myth: Your body needs to be cleansed of harmful toxins that cause weight retention.

The fact: All this does is get rid of water weight. As soon as you start drinking water again, the weight will come back.

The myth: You need to weigh yourself often while on a weight-loss plan in order to gauge the success.

The fact: A scale is not the best indicator of a successful weight-loss plan. People get frustrated when they don’t see significant weight loss right away. The fact is, muscle does weigh more than fat and because of that, they should use other ways to track the success of their plan (like measuring body fat).

The myth: A low-carb diet is healthy.

The fact: Some people go on low-carb diets without really having a true understanding of what they can and cannot eat. Diets that eliminates fruits and vegetables can’t be healthy. Complex carbohydrates, like the ones found in fruits and vegetables, are good for the body and can promote weight loss.

Trivita Home Business Success

Natural Pain Relief and Home business Success

You have to read this story about Tula Savisky. These testimonies just fire off my jets and launch me into another mission orbit. I love hearing how people are having life transformations with TriVita.

Tula joined TriVita in December 2008, not thinking she was going to make a lot of money, but in hopes that TriVita would be different than her past business experiences. Someone she knew in an online community referred her to TriVita, assuring her she could do the business.

She told me, "I failed at every network marketing company I’ve been involved with before because the products simply didn’t do what was promised. It seemed like you had to be a seller or taker from someone to get something for yourself. That just is not my personality, but my enroller Tanya Sydney told me TriVita was different. I hoped it would be, and that I could help people while earning some money at the same time."

Tula received her first check from TriVita which was $9. She and her husband, Terry, love to canoe and camp, so she hoped that someday she could buy a new canoe. But then came the Nopalea launch, and she experienced a wellness experience that removed pain, gave her new mobility with renewed energy to do the things that are physically demanding and things she loves to do. In fact, by lowering inflammation in her body, even the psoriasis skin blemishes she’s had for years are clearing up. That is remarkable in itself, as there is little that can be done for this kind of skin disorder.

She started sharing Nopalea online with some success and began to watch her checks go up. Her belief in the product continued to build as she was receiving amazing stories from people about how their health was improving. You might remember the call Bryan Wirth and I did about how small actions create small successes that help build belief. And when belief becomes the force, all things are possible. Get into action and create small successes as you are just a few steps away from belief where big and mighty things happen.

Now Tula is not hiding behind a computer because she cannot share with someone in person; she is out in the community everywhere she goes sharing the Nopalea story. Her belief is so powerful and she told me "If you just share and care about people, the compensation will come back to you." Sounds like reciprocity to me! She is now moving quickly towards becoming a Director, and in only 7 months, her July compensation was $1,700!

She said, "Michael, my personal development to overcome fear and doubts has been incredible. I could not have even talked with you about my goals and my life when I first started with TriVita. I attribute much of that to the life changing effects that Sublingual B-12 had on my mental focus, emotional stability and physical energy. Add to that the fantastic support I have received from my enroller Tanya Sydney, Fred Gondzar, Mike Riedmiller and Cody Ramsey, and I’m a different person." She boldly said, "I have my eyes set on being Presidential Director someday. I know I can do it if I just keep sharing."

Here is a dynamic, synergistic and powerful thing that happened to Tula and her husband Terry…when TriVita changed the policy so anyone of legal age in a household could have a position as an Affiliate, she immediately recruited her husband. He had always been supportive, but it was always Tula’s business not ‘their’ business. As soon as Terry enrolled, he immediately made a list of contacts that he wanted in his business. He began sending the Gift of Health, which led to enrolling the builders he wanted to work with him. But here is what is so powerful…Tula and Terry began to dream about what they wanted to do together and A FAMILY PURPOSE DREAM EMERGED! The dream became much bigger than a canoe. They want to go to Baffin Island above the Arctic Circle and work with the Inuit. They want to return to South America where they lived for 9 years and renew friendships. This once timid, NOW bold TriVita Affiliate asked me, "When are you going worldwide, as we have contacts all over the world who we want to get involved in TriVita? We have people in Australia…how soon before TriVita is in Australia?"

I could write a book on Tula instead of a blog. What can we learn with this incredible story?

  1. You never know what lies inside of an individual. With the nurturing and encouragement she received from her support team, she now believes like we do that all things are possible when you believe in the products. As leaders – nurture, encourage and inspire, as you just don’t know the potential of the power of belief.
  2. Get the whole family involved, as it creates family purpose and focus.
  3. Don’t be a taker, but rather a giver, and share with people the power of Nopalea. Tula gives people a bottle and uses the Gift of Health. She believes in the product.
  4. Actions create success… success creates belief in yourself… belief then creates many magnificent possibilities

. I am proud to share this story with you. This is why there is a TriVita. I see thousands of Affiliates rising up with actions to demonstrate the product and people experiencing a greater quality of life. Affiliate businesses are going to explode as we become audacious and bold in our actions to share an anti-inflammatory product with a highly toxic and inflamed world. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing about Tula.

Sublingual Vitamin B12

According to the medterm.com web site, "vitamin B12 is a vitamin important for the normal formation of red blood cells and the health of the nerve tissues. Undetected and untreated vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to anemia and permanent nerve and brain damage." [1]

Vitamin B12 is naturally found in foods that come from animals, including fish, meat, poultry, eggs, milk, and milk products. Fortified breakfast cereals are a particularly valuable source of vitamin B12 for vegetarians.

"Pernicious anemia is a blood disorder caused by inadequate vitamin B12 in the blood. Patients who have this disorder do not produce the protein substance in the stomach that allows the body to absorb vitamin B12. This substance is called intrinsic factor (IF)." [1]

"Pernicious anemia is simply treated with injections of vitamin B12. The vitamin B12 has to be administered by injection because people with PA do not have IF (or an effective form of IF) and so cannot absorb vitamin B12 taken by mouth." [1]

"Pernicious anemia has also been called Addison's anemia, addisonian anemia, Biermer's anemia." [1]

Vitamin B12 helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells. It is also needed to help make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 is also called cobalamin because it contains the metal cobalt.

Vitamin B12 is bound to the protein in food. Hydrochloric acid in the stomach releases vitamin B12 from proteins in foods during digestion. Once released, vitamin B12 combines with a substance called intrinsic factor (IF). This complex can then be absorbed by the intestinal tract.

However, patients with Crohn's disease involving the small intestine (Crohn's ileitis) or who have undergone small intestine resection may not be able to absorb vitamin B12.

Strict vegetarians who consume no animal products can develop B12 deficiency since there is a lack of B12 in vegetables.

Recommendations for vitamin B12 are provided in the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) developed by the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. Dietary Reference Intakes is the general term for a set of reference values used for planning and assessing nutrient intake for healthy people.

"The recommended daily allowances of vitamin B12 in the United States are 2mcg for infants, 3 mcg for children under 4 years old, 6mcg for children over 4 years old and adults, and 8 mcg for pregnant women." [1]

We need Vitamin B-12 in a form that is readily usable by the body. Vitamin B-12 deficiency is the most common vitamin deficiency in people over 50. Vitamin B-12 deficiency may cause everything from fatigue and grumpiness, to mental confusion and mental exhaustion. Anemia and dementia may follow later.

With that said, it's recommended adults take "one multivitamin daily. One multivitamin a day is safe and inexpensive. The multivitamin should contain 400 micrograms of folic acid, approximately 2-3 mg of vitamin B6, 6-9 micrograms of vitamin of B12, and 400 IU of vitamin D. The folic acid and the other B vitamins can help lower homocysteine. The vitamin D is one of the important factors in preventing osteoporosis." [1]

I know many healthcare professionals recommend daily multivitamins. However, many multivitamins lack the proper dosage of b-12, and most do not meet the recommended daily allowances. That's why I recommend TriVita's Sublingual B12.

With TriVita's Sublingual B12, you can be assured that your body is getting the B vitamins it needs. The original, patented formula bypasses the digestive system, speeding the nutrients directly to your bloodstream, where they can go to work right away.

Don't fall into the vitamin b-12 deficiency trap. If you're aging, and not sure you're getting the daily requirement of this all important vitamin, ask your doctor or healthcare professional if taking a b-12 supplement is right for you. If they say yes, try TriVita's patented Sublingual B-12.

What is Chronic Pain anyway?

Well, we all know what pain is. But what is chronic pain? Well the purpose of pain is to help us avoid bad things happening to our body. When an injury happens, things hurt. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. That is called "acute pain".

Chronic pain, however, is pain that lasts well after the 6 week time that it should normally take for an injury to get better. Some would say that you can’t call it chronic pain until it has lasted for 3 months. Either way the pain is lasting well after the injury.

There are many medical strategies to try to help deal with chronic pain and it is absolutely crucial that anybody who has chronic pain seek medical attention to figure out why they have it and what can be done about it. Nobody--- and I repeat nobody--- should ever deal with their chronic pain using alternative strategies until they have had a thorough evaluation.

Unfortunately for many people, after the evaluation there is the reality that their chronic pain is still with them. It just stays and stays and stays. In that case it becomes very reasonable to pursue alternative strategies as long as they are safe.

I have discovered that a very powerful nutrient grown right in the Sonoran Desert called "betalains" may help to decrease chronic pain. At least that’s been the experience of some people who have been fortunate enough to get ahold of this nutrient.

Fortunately this nutrient can now be obtained through a whole food in drink form that actually tastes good. You can read the story about this very powerful nutrient and how it might help chronic pain at Pain Reliefe.

New Omega-3 Study

Information from a new research study, which was published in the European Heart Journal, reveals that eating oily fish, such as salmon, tuna, sardines, mackerel and trout at least once per week can contribute to a reduction in the risk of heart failure in men.

The study was conducted at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). In the study, they analyzed 39,367 Swedish men between the ages of 45 and 79 from 1998 to 2004. "The researchers recorded details of the men’s diet and tracked the men’s outcome through Swedish inpatient hospital registers and cause-of-death registers. During this period, 597 men in the study (with no previous history of heart disease or diabetes) developed heart failure. Thirty-four men died." [1]

The study produced solid evidence that the men who ate fatty fish once a week had a 12 percent lower risk of developing heart failure.

"Analysis of their numbers showed that the men who ate fatty fish (herring, mackerel, salmon, whitefish and char) once a week were 12 percent less likely to develop heart failure, compared with men who ate no fatty fish. Although this association did not reach statistical significance, notes Levitan, the researchers also found a statistically significant association with the intake of marine omega-3 fatty acids, which are found in cod liver and other fish oils: The men who consumed approximately 0.36 grams a day were 33 percent less likely to develop heart failure than the men who consumed little or no marine omega-3 fatty acids." [1]

"Our study reinforces the current recommendations for moderate consumption of fatty fish," notes first author Emily Levitan, PhD, a research fellow in the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Research Center at BIDMC. "Current guidelines from the American Heart Association recommend eating fatty fish twice a week."

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to human health but cannot be manufactured by the body. For this reason, omega-3 fatty acids must be obtained from food, and or supplements. However, there has been some concerns regarding mercury contamination of omega-3 fatty acids supplements. If mercury is a concern, I suggest taking certified mercury-free omega-3 supplements like TriVita's Omega Prime.

Omega Prime helps meet the American Heart Association guidelines. One daily dose of Omega Prime provides the amount of Omega-3 recommended by the AHA for healthy individuals, as well as for those who have heart disease or the risk of it.

Further research suggests that essential fatty acids (EFAs) support our wellness in so many ways, starting with helping to reduce runaway inflammation. Many of us don't realize this, but runaway inflammation can lead to various serious health problems in the body, not only with the heart, but also with the arteries, lungs, and joints.

Many of us are not a fish eaters; if that's you, Omega Prime can be a great addition to your diet. And since omega-3 fatty acids are recommended by doctors and health professionals, it's important to get your recommended daily requirement.

You can find additional information on Omega Prime and all of the TriVita nutritional products by going to http://trivitaproduct.info. Weight Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

Here are some great tips on weight loss without surgery. I know that you have probably seen these before but hey it’s very important because I see all these people that want to lose weight but don’t know how to or they don't have the determination. I always say that if there is something that you don't like about yourself change it. There is no sense in sitting around on that couch and being jealous of everyone else because you are feeling insecure. Here are some ways that I have seen people losing weight. These tips work.

  1. Write your goal on paper. I say this one because a goal is not valid unless it’s on paper.
  2. Stay committed and determined to complete your goal.
  3. . Surround yourself with people who are supportive and who will help u accomplish this goal. This one is very important because that is the one thing that will sidetrack you from doing something positive is having that one negative "friend" that is afraid that you are going look better than them.
  4. Yes, watch what you eat. Of course.
  5. Get outside. Be active. Join a health club. Or a gym.
  6. Create a healthy social life. Losing weight or anything that has to do with changing ourselves requires that we have good, positive associations. It requires that we want this for ourselves and that we have a self esteem that is high.
  7. Don’t say you are going to lose weight and then do all the things that say you are not. Be proactive.

Once these you follow these tips I am sure that you will not only lose the weight that you want to lose but you will find that you have created a new you from the inside out.

Vitamin D

New Studies Reveal Importance of Vitamin D in Kids

Did you know that a "lack of vitamin D puts kids at increased risk for osteoporosis, heart disease, cancer, infection, and other possible health problems in adulthood."

Yes, according to two new studies, millions of U.S. children have extremely low vitamin D levels, and that "lack is tied to heart and diabetes risks."

In fact, some observers say that a lack of vitamin D in their childhoods may partly explain the epidemic of these diseases among adults in North America.

From an article posted in the vitalchoice newsletter, this information surprise some people, however, for many nutritional experts, this is not a big surprise.

The first study reveals that there is a "vitamin D shortfall" that is "common in kids and teens." The study showed that "9 percent of children aged 1 through 21 - about 7.6 million children, adolescents and young adults ? have vitamin D levels considered deficient. And another 61 percent - 50.8 million kids - have vitamin D levels that are higher but still deemed insufficient" (Kumar J et al 2009).

From the final analysis of the study of more than 6,000 children, girls, adolescents, and people with darker skin had the "lowest vitamin D levels." The final results were that " 59 percent of African American teenage girls deemed vitamin D deficient."

In the second study shows that kids, deficient in vitamin D are at risk of heart disease, and diabetes. The team conducting the study found that "adolescents with the lowest D levels had more than double the risk of having high blood pressure and blood sugar and about four times the risk for the metabolic syndrome."

The team also concluded that "low serum [blood] vitamin D [levels] in US adolescents is strongly associated with hypertension, hyperglycemia, and metabolic syndrome, independent of adiposity (excess body fat)." (Reis JP et al. 2009)

As this new evidence poured in from the leading vitamin D researchers, parents are urged to ask their doctors to test their children's vitamin D levels. That does ot come as a big surprise, since vitamin D is one of those often overlooked important vitamins. And these studies show proof that vitamin D is just as important as previously thought to be.

There's also a request from these researchers suggesting that children increase their intake of vitamin D from food and supplements, and also make sure they spend more time in the sun.

"Vitamin D researchers universally point to ample evidence that the U.S. recommended daily allowances for vitamin D (400 IU) is much too low to maintain healthy levels among kids in northern latitudes, and especially in darker-skinned teens."

Man doctors suggest drinking more milk, some even suggest drinking 10 glasses of milk per day, one of the earlier recommended sources of vitamin D. However, "supplements and fatty fish are both much higher in vitamin D than milk, and fish such as wild sockeye salmon (687 IU per 3.5 oz serving) offer the benefits of very high protein and omega-3 content as well." [3]

If your child suffers from vitamin D deficiency, or you're just looking for a better means of getting this all important vitamin, TriVita's VitaCal-Mag D may be right for your child. Before taking any supplements, always check with your health care professional or doctor.

Weight Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

Inspired by my conversations with clients today I thought I would address the “Dieting” issue. There are so many do’s and dont’s out there and so many myths to debunk. So, let’s dive in and discuss how 90% of people fail at diets but the majority of people succeed at “clean eating”

First off what is clean eating? Clean eating is supplying your body with the nutrients it needs, while trying to eat more healthy foods such as; fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains. Isn’t that a diet? Well, according to the Websters dictionary a diet is, “a regiment of eating and drinking sparingly so as to reduce one’s weight”. I do not know about you but that sounds pretty naff and I wouldn’t want to follow something like that! Which one sounds better to you Clean eating or Dieting?

Let’s look at how to eat clean and how you benefit from it. Include the following items in your meal plan: fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, low-fat dairy products, protein and whole grains/complex carbohydrates Foods to avoid: Processed foods, refined foods, package snacks, candies, pastries, white bread and pasta, saturated fats, trans fats, and sugary soda’s and juices.

Follow these tips when constructing your menu:

  1. Eat 5-6 times a day. Mixing 3 to 4 meals with 2 to 3 healthy snacks
  2. Try to eat every 3-5 hours, unless you really are not hungry
  3. Try to pair a source of protein with a carb source. This will help you digest your food more slowly giving you a satisfied feeling for longer.

Benefits of Clean Eating: more energy, clearer skin and shinier, healthier hair, increased mental well being, better sleep and of course weight loss! As you can see doesn’t clean eating look more appealing then a diet of regimented foods and water taking in sparing to lose weight!

Now don’t forget to exercise to increase weight loss and overall health!

Weight Loss

What does healthy living mean to you? Does it mean giving up your favorite foods? Does it mean eating vegetables for breakfast, and fruits for lunch? Does it mean exercising three times a day? Healthy living isn't about starving yourself or testing your limits. It's all about achieving balance between the physical, emotional, nutritional, and spiritual elements in your life.

TriVita's Leanology™ weight loss system helps to to do just that, live a healthier lifestyle. Weight loss may be the first step to living a healthier lifestyle. If that's the case, that Leanology™ may be right for you. If maintaining a healthy weight is more fitting for you, than Leanology™ may be right for you. Before I get into the benefits of Leanology, let's first take a look at weight loss and what it means.

No matter what side of the fence your on, weight loss or weight management are the two biggest issues facing most people when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. Getting to a healthy weight and/or maintaining your current weight does not have to be difficult. It does, however, include change, change in your eating habits, exercise routine, emotional outlook, and your spiritual mind set.

A Lifestyle of Change

I've read somewhere that if you're going to call this a "diet," then you're going to gain all the weight back in a very short period of time. It's also been said, and I believe it, "diets do not work." Diets are only a temporary fix, short term weight loss. However, when you change your dietary lifestyle, you change your habits. This lifestyle change will put you on the right track for long-term continued success and weight maintenance.

If you want to fail, tell someone that you're on a diet. Most of your family and friends will tell you that diets do not work, and they are correct (just see the preceding paragraph). I know a lot of people that loose a lot of weight in the short term just to return to an even higher weight once the diet is over. It may work out well for a while, but will ultimately fail because their lifestyle didn't change. And this change, if it's going to work, has to be permanent.

Weight Loss is a Mind Game

Having the right frame of mind will help you stick to and achieve your goals. You have to have a positive mind set. You have to believe that this is what you want, to live a healthier lifestyle. Nobody can help you with this; it's an inside game. And that's where being connected to a source greater than self will drive you through the tough times.

God is the only living being that can help you through the tough times. He is the one that created you and he knows what's best for you. Give your undivided attention to Him, and He will give you direction, strength, and will power. Everything we have comes from God. So start today and build a relationship with your creator.

Building a relationship with God is no different than building a relationship with those around you. You do it through sharing and listening, and you can do it by offering a daily simple prayer. By doing so, you will enjoy a sense of well-being you will not experience in any other way.

Take at least 15 minutes each day to spend in prayer, meditation, and inspirational reading. Make this a time to concentrate on the areas in your life where you most need Divine help. Seek out Divine comfort and direction every day. Once this is done, you can be assured that you're on the right path to a healthier lifestyle.
