Weight Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

No matter what your age, body type, or fitness level, we're pretty sure one of your main workout goals is to improve your abs. And why not? A flat midsection, with or without a visible six-pack, is the ultimate symbol of being fit and lean. (And yes, it looks great at the beach.) But it's not just a matter of vanity—a strong core helps stabilize your entire body.

Still, whatever you're doing to get fit, there's always room for improvement where the core is concerned. Here are five tips to help you to get those great abs faster than ever:

  1. Work your entire core. Your "core," the trunk muscles of your abdomen, lower back, and pelvis, is a whole system that supports your body as you stand up straight, perform everyday activities, and work out. And it's important to strengthen all these muscles, not just the rectus abdominis (the main "six-pack" muscles targeted by crunches). At the very least, you should strengthen the spinal erectors of the lower back to balance out your abs, which will help your posture and reduce the risk of back pain. Think of total-core training as increasing your functional fitness—meaning you won't just look better, but you'll also be able to do things better too.
  2. Take it slow. When you're doing crunches or other ab-focused exercises, it's easy to speed up and lose proper form, especially when you start to get tired. Either you let momentum carry you through much of the movement or you pull yourself up with your back and shoulders. But you'll get the most benefit (and the least chance of injury) from your workout if you concentrate on measured, controlled movements. And keep the abdominals contracted the entire time. After all, they're the ones that should be doing the work. When you can't do any more reps with the proper form, it's time to stop.
  3. Don't overdo it. If you really want great abs, you may be tempted to grind out crunch after crunch to the exclusion of other exercises, or to do more ab-centred workouts than your fitness program recommends. But directly working your abs too often can do more harm than good. Like any muscle, the abdominals need to recover between workouts. If you find you aren't improving the number of reps you can do or the amount of weight you can handle, that's a sign that you're over training, and you need to cut back.
  4. Don't neglect the rest of your body. The more you work your entire body, the better it is for your abs. In fact, just about any full-body or compound movement, from push-ups to squats to dead lifts, takes a lot of ab effort. What's more, working your full body will burn many more calories and raise your metabolism, which is important, because you also need to . . .
  5. No matter how much you strengthen your abdominal muscles, the only way to get a flat midsection is to lose body fat. That's going to require a diet that's high in protein and fiber, low in simple carbs, and full of bulky, nutrient-dense foods that keep you full with fewer calories—and of course, plenty of water. If you're on a meal plan associated with a particular workout, make sure you're really following it and not fudging here and there. (Keeping a food diary can help.) When you combine an effective full-body workout with a proper diet, getting the flat abs you've always wanted is just a matter of time.

Vitamin B-12

Vitamin b-12 and folate are two of the main ingredients in TriVita's Sublingual B-12. The others are Vitamin B-6 and biotin. Since b-12 and folate are considered very important to the human body, I thought I'd use this article to concentrate on those two ingredients.

What is B-12 and Folate?

According to the Labs Tests Online website, a public resource on clinical lab testing from the laboratory professionals who do the testing, "B12 and folate are B complex vitamins that are necessary for normal red blood cell formation, tissue and cellular repair, and DNA synthesis." [1]

Vitamin B-12 and Folate Deficiency

It's more of a deficiency of b-12 and folate that causes problems rather than an over abundance of these vitamins. As a matter of fact, a lot of research and studies have been conducted on these complex vitamins. The main findings have been that a deficiency of b-12 and/or folate "can lead to macrocytic anemia, a condition characterized by the production of fewer, but larger red blood cells and a decreased ability to carry oxygen." [1]

Information from Lab Tests Online also states that "a deficiency in B12 can also result in varying degrees of neuropathy, nerve damage that can cause tingling and numbness in the patient’s hands and feet and mental changes that range from confusion and irritability to severe dementia." [1]

There are many symptoms that occur which leads doctors to a vitamin b-12 deficiency. However, ":the symptoms associated with B12 and folate deficiency are frequently subtle and nonspecific. They are related to the resulting macrocytic anemia, nerve involvement, and gastrointestinal changes. Patients with an early deficiency may be diagnosed before they experience any overt symptoms." [1]

Other symptoms may include, "confusion, paranoia, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue/weakness, loss of appetite, malabsorption, paleness, rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, sore tongue and mouth, tingling, numbness, and/or burning in the feet, hands, arms, and legs (with B12)." [1]

Causes of Vitamin B-12 Deficiency

One of the main causes that I've heard about, especially when it comes to the elderly, is inadequate absorption. Most of the elderly population is unable to absorb vitamin b-12 from the food they eat. And once again, according to the Labs Tests Online website, they confirm what I've come to learn over the past year. "B12 and folate deficiency may be due to insufficient intake, inadequate absorption, increased loss, or to increased need." [1]

Lab Tests Online continues with, "B12 deficiency can be caused by insufficient stomach acid - necessary to separate B12 from ingested protein. This is the most common cause of B12 deficiency in the elderly and individuals on drugs that suppress gastric acid production. Deficiency may also be due to a lack of intrinsic factor, a substance produced by parietal cells in the stomach that binds with B12 before absorption by the intestines. An autoimmune condition called pernicious anemia involves damage to the parietal cells, resulting in decreased production of intrinsic factor." [1]

TriVita's Sublingual B-12

I believe it's the deficiency and malabsorption factors that led Dr. Libby, inventor of TriVita's patented Sublingual B-12 formula, on a trek to develop an easy to use B-12 and folate concentrated supplement. Before Dr. Libby's formula came to the market, the most popular way to get the proper dose of the b-12 vitamin was through a shot, which had to be administered by a doctor, and was guaranteed to be absorbed into the body.

Many people have found success with Dr. Libby's patented sublingual vitamin b12. It is the number one selling product which is sold and distributed by TriVita. As mentioned before, the b12 vitamin is very important, and should be taken on a daily basis. It's almost impossible to get enough of b-12 and folate through a proper diet, especially if you're starting to get up there in age.

Before taking any dietary supplement, you should talk to a health care professional or doctor. The information in this article is just to inform people of the health risks related to vitamin B12 and folate deficiencies. Although my information comes from reliable sources, it's up to you to verify this information, just ask your doctor.

I believe that taking a b12 supplement on a daily basis is a must. To learn more about the sublingual vitamin b12, its patented delivery system, Dr. Libby, and/or TriVita, visit the vitamin b12 web site.

Weight Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

Let us take our diet as a factor in reaching a healthy weight loss. We have to take note that putting our food intake in proper portions is important. Here are some food weight loss tips that you can follow.

First of all, you have to stop eating too much meat products. Yes, meat is a very important source of protein. However, too much of it can be very fatal for our body because its fats can cause us heart problems. With this, you can try to get more protein from other healthy sources like vegetables and eat a very small amount of meat.

The next food weight loss tip is to control your intake of high calorie foods. Today since most of us are always on the go due to our work, we are opting to eat meals from fast foods. However, we notice that these foods are very high in calories such as burgers and French fries. These contributes greatly to our weight so if it is possible, you can try to make yourself a homemade healthy meal. But if it is inevitable due to a very hectic schedule, what you can do is that you can opt to buy more healthy foods from fast foods like salad. In this way, you can have a healthy meal in a jiffy.

The next tip is something that people with sweet tooth would dislike. Healthy weight loss would require us to cut down or totally stop eating sweet foods. However, you can still take in sweet foods as a reward for yourself but do not reward yourself on a daily basis. You can take in a small amount of sweet food once a week or two. With this, you will see a great change in your weight in a faster rate.

If you are someone who does not want to be trapped in obesity then this is the time to commit yourself to a healthy weight loss regimen. This could be as easy as changing your food intake. With exercise, you will see the results in no time.

Omega Prime

I continue to do research on the nutritional products that TriVita provides. In a effort to solidify the information provided by TriVita, along with the claims made on their products, I always feel a need to go that extra mile, and do my own research. With that said, here is what I've found experts, backed by case studies, have said about the importance of omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs).

"Dr Emanuel Severus of the Berlin University finds that major depression is characterized by a deficiency of omega-3 fatty acids and that these acids possess powerful anti-arrhythmic properties. He suggests that the missing link in the recently established association between major depression and sudden cardiac death may be the omega-3 fatty acid deficiency which characterizes both conditions." [1]

The American Heart Association (AHA) has been claiming that omega-3 is important to keeping the heart healthy. I've also written about that in my past articles. As a matter of fact, the AHA recommends eating fish (particularly fatty fish such as mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna, and salmon) at least 2 times a week. Your can learn more by going to their web site.

"DHA, a major component of fish oils, is the most important fatty acid in the brain and retina and makes up more than 30% of the structural lipid (fat) in neurons. There is ample evidence that a deficiency of DHA is associated with depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and dementia. Clinical studies have shown that an increased intake of DHA may benefit patients with dyslexia and Alzheimer's disease." [2]

"Researchers at Boston University and Tufts University School of Medicine now report that they have found a clear association between low blood levels of DHA and the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease...The researchers suggest that maintaining adequate levels of DHA through the consumption of fish or dietary supplements rich in DHA may be particularly important for the elderly." [2]

I've written articles about Alzheimer's Disease, and the importance of omega-3 fatty acids as a preventative natural product. In the previous study, it's a proven fact that "increased intake of DHA may benefit patients with dyslexia and Alzheimer's disease." Omega Prime, TriVita's omega-3 fatty acid supplement, is a great source of DHA to help prevent this terrible disease.

"Manic-depressive illness (bipolar disorder) is a common, severe mental illness involving repeated episodes of depression, mania (rapid mood changes, hyperactivity, and excessive cheerfulness) or both. It is usually treated with drugs such as lithium carbonate or valproate. Unfortunately, these drugs are not very effective and recurrence rates are high. It is generally believed that bipolar disorder involves an overactivity in the neuronal signal pathways. Omega-3 fatty acids are known to dampen this overactivity and medical researchers at the Harvard Medical School have confirmed that omega-3 oils may be useful in the treatment of bipolar disorder." [3]

This is the first information I've seen regarding omega-3 being used to treat bipolar disorders. However, it must be working because the Harvard researchers urge that further trials of fish oils in the treatment of depression and manic-depressive illness be completed.

Those are just a few findings on the importance of incorporating omega-3 into your daily diet. I know a lot of people do not like fish, that's why TriVita has developed Omega Prime, a premier blend of essential fatty acids from 4 sources -- Fish, Flaxseed, Evening Primrose and Perilla Seed.

Weigth Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

If you are serious about weight loss, I mean, healthy and permanent weight loss, it is important for you to set realistic goals. Most people have no set goals in mind except that of losing weight very quickly. The quicker they can lose weight, the better. They have no idea of how much time it takes to lose weight healthily.

Diet: These people get attracted to fad diets and weight loss pills that promise the moon. While they end up losing a few pounds, that is not fat loss. With most of the fad diets, you will lose more water and muscles than fat. I am sure you will agree that this is an unhealthy way of losing weight! Moreover, such weight loss is not permanent. Sooner or later you will regain all your ‘lost’ pounds.

One more thing: your aim shouldn’t be to have a body like Jessica Alba or Victoria Beckham; remember that they have money to help them maintain that slim figure, which you probably don’t have.

Moreover, you don’t need to be like them. To become healthy, all you need is to lose enough weight so that you can reach your ideal body weight! To do that, you won’t need to use any fad diets or starve for weeks. All you need to do is to eat right and include the right dose of exercises with it; with this combo, you are sure to lose all those tenacious pounds!

I would suggest that you forget about the word ‘dieting’ and focus on healthy eating instead! For starters, you can replace fizzy drinks and soda with water; this way, you will be able to quench your thirst without getting any fatter. Some people think that soft drinks that come with the ‘low-calorie’ tag are okay. However, this is wrong! Low-calorie soft drinks not only taste bad, but being deprived of fructose, they make you crave for sugar.

You should also replace white flour with whole grain wheat. Whole grain wheat contains little fat. Being rich in protein and fiber, it will help you with weight loss!

Exercises: Speaking of exercises, weight training is one of the best exercises for quick weight loss. Contrary to what women think, not only is this exercise not just for men, it also won’t take away the femininity of women. As a matter of fact, if one wants to build huge muscles like bodybuilders, the presence of a hormone called testosterone is important, which women don’t have. Besides, bodybuilders aren’t able to build muscles just by doing exercises. They also use protein shakes, supplements and steroids to acquire the muscular body.

There are many other benefits of exercises than just weight loss. Exercises will make you more energetic; you get this extra energy by burning your fat deposits. Apart from that, you will also be able to sleep more soundly.

Another way you can benefit from exercises is that they help you build strong lean muscles, improve your immune system and stamina. Exercises also help in improving the tone and appearance of skin, something which most women are obsessed with!

Sonoran Bloom

I received a phone call Sunday morning from a person interested in Sonoran Bloom Nopalea®, the product, and also Sonoran Bloom the business opportunity. After further discussion with this person I found out that not only was this person interested in Sonoran Bloom, but this person was also interested in a product and company called Mandura™.

This took place on Sunday morning and since I was just heading out the door, I had to cut the conversation short. However, I did get this person's contact information and some additional information on Mandura™.

After I returned home from church, I did some research on Mandura™. With information in hand, I decided to compare Mandura™ to Sonoran Bloom, both company and product. In this article I'll share information about both companies and their products, and what I feel is a better business opportunity.

First off, let's take a look at Mandura™ and what this company has to offer. For $30 you can become a Independent Business Owner (IBO). However, I did not see anything on their web site about receiving your own personal/business web site, a place where you can send prospects, that's not to say they do not have one.

I'm not really sure how the company works as far as compensating their IBOs, but I did find this at the bottom of their "Opportunity Overview" page:

"Give it a try, and if, for some reason, you are not completely satisfied with Mandura™ and the rare opportunity we are offering, you can return your first case for a complete refund within 30 days of purchase."

I saw they had different entry levels, but I'm not sure what they mean about a complete refund on your first case of product. That was a little confusing too me. You can look at the information by going to www.mymandura.com.

The Mandura™ compensation plan is a "Straight Line Forced Matrix "plan. In other words, when you sign up, you're placed in line, and as others sign up after you, they get placed below you. I'm not sure what you get paid, if anything, for someone who just wants to order the product. That's a little fuzzy at this particular time. What it looks like too me is the company is looking for lots of IBO's who are consuming the product, but I may be wrong.

Personally I'm not a fan of the "Forced Matrix" comp plan because I've seen it in the past where the majority of people are expecting the people above to promote the business and get people placed below them. That is not my cup of tea! I believe, to make a business work, everyone has to contribute, everyone.

I may have more on Mandura at a later date, once I look deeper into the company and product. Yes, I did say product. At the present time, they only have the one product, coined "A Royal Family of Fruits." The product contains Durian, Mangosteen, Acai, and Blueberries. I'm sure it tastes wonderful and has some excellent anti-oxidant qualities, but aren't there plenty of mangosteen and acai products on the market?

The questions arise: Can someone build a business on one product? The company is only a year old, will they be around next year? As you may already know, many startups crash and burn in the early years. Will the IBO's actually work the system, if there is a plan or system in place? Who are the leaders? What type of training to they have? Is the compensation plan too good to be true? Only time will tell!

Sonoran Bloom

First I'll start with the product, Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™. Nopalea™ (No--pah lay' uh) blends antioxidant-rich Nopal cactus superfruit with naturally sweet Agave nectar to bring you a deliciously unique concentrated wellness drink. Harnessing the power of betalains, a rare and powerful class of antioxidants that flourishes in the Nopal fruit, Nopalea delivers scientifically proven health benefits.

Betalains are the pigments that give the Nopal cactus fruit its vibrant pink color. But that's just the beginning. They're also natural antioxidants and they're only found in a few of the world's plants, the Nopal cactus is one of them.

Nopalea™ not only contains natural antioxidants, it also helps to reduce inflammation, and detoxify your body. The Nopal cactus has been scientifically proven to repair cells that have been damaged by free radicals. In other words, Nopalea™ works at the cellular level.

"Nopalea™ specifically targets signs of inflammation in your body and reduces them quickly."[1] Its betalains and other anti-inflammatory ingredients work directly on the fluid surrounding your cells. There, they draw off the toxins and excess water to reduce inflammation and rebalance the cellular environment.

Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ is not made from Mangosteen or Acai. And from the research I've done, Nopalea is a much more effective fruit than the aforementioned fruits. To learn more or to try Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ click on the previous link.

Weigth Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

Most people think weight loss programs have to be complicated to fit in with age, sex and body type. As I am about to reveal many weight loss programs on the face of it look complicated, however this unnecessary complication is mainly to differentiate it from the competition. It can be very confusing to know which diet plan to follow with so much choice out in the marketplace.

Many weight loss programs out there make themselves different from the competition, by using different daily calorie ratios for the 3 main nutrients found in food. The three main nutrients are proteins, fats and carbohydrates. So for example, what you can have is high, medium, low and zero daily calories of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. There is so many different combinations you can with these 3 main nutrients use to make a weight loss plan. There is little wonder that there is so much competition out there with a vast number of different weight loss plans.

So why do so many diets fail people and why isn’t there one diet out there that has proven to consistently achieve permanent weight loss.

The real answer is to turn the first question around; instead it should read why do so many people fail in their dieting. This leads to answering the second question; there isn’t a diet that guarantees permanent weight loss, because it depends very much on the individual who is carrying out the diet.

So instead of recommending which diet you should follow, you need to understand why people fail diets in the long term, this can lead to stopping the cycle of putting weight back on when lost, thus achieving permanent weight loss.

Generally almost all diets work by using the different combinations of fats, proteins and carbohydrates for your daily calorie intake. In the short term by burning up more calories than you intake you will lose weight.

Recent studies back this up; when the popular commercial diets were compared against other over a 6-12 month period, they mostly showed similar weight loss results. One major study concluded that the person adhering to the diet, rather than the diet itself was the main indicator of whether the weight loss program would work or not.

So what this shows clearly that, the most likely way to succeed in achieving permanent weight loss depends on how well you adhere to a weight loss plan in the long term. So how can this be achieved?

A solution to achieving permanent weight loss lies in looking at making lifestyle changes; developing new positive habits that involve following weight loss programs in the long term. The simply fact changes like this simply do not happen overnight and take weeks, sometimes months to become an integrated part of a persons life.
