Sonoran Bloom

During my recent Google search for additional information on inflammation, I cam across an article that was first published in the February 24th, 2004 issue of TIME magazine. On of the most ridiculous quotes from this article, at least in my opinion, is "They have discovered that inflammation is critical to many diseases, which they did not know before." [1] What? They just discovered that theory in 2004?

Wasn't it Hippocrates (born around 460 BC), who by the way was called the "Father of Medicine" [2], the one that said, "All Disease is One"? I would imagine if the early so-called medical experts would have taken what Hippocrates to heart, and paid attention to what he was trying to communicate, many of the diseases we have to day could be cured, like "sickle cell anemia ... MS, Lupus, and other autoimmune diseases ... Parkinsons ... Alzheimers ... CANCER ... heart attacks ... DIABETES ... arthritis ... even such simple things as dental hygiene."

What do you suppose Hippocrates meant when he said that "all disease is one?" Do you think he was referring to inflammation? After all, according to medical professionals, "inflammation is a process by which the body's white blood cells and chemicals protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses." [3]

Studies continue to try and determine not only the source of inflammation but also a cure.

"...inflammation has become one of the hottest areas of medical research. Hardly a week goes by without the publication of yet another study uncovering a new way that chronic inflammation does harm to the body. It destabilizes cholesterol deposits in the coronary arteries, leading to heart attacks and potentially even strokes. It chews up nerve cells in the brains of Alzheimer's victims. It may even foster the proliferation of abnormal cells and facilitate their transformation into cancer. In other words, chronic inflammation may be the engine that drives many of the most feared illnesses of middle and old age." [4]

In an effort to find a cure, many non-prescription products continue to pop up in the marketplace. For several years now, Mangosteen, which according to some studies, is "compared to the strongest anti-inflammatory drug available." [1] I believe, at one time, that may have been the case. However, today we have a new discovery, TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™.

TriVita's Nopalea™ (made from the Nopal cactus) specifically targets signs of inflammation in your body and reduces them quickly.[5] Its betalains and other anti-inflammatory ingredients work directly on the fluid surrounding your cells. There, they draw off the toxins and excess water to reduce inflammation and rebalance the cellular environment.

Harnessing the power of betalains, a rare and potent class of antioxidants that flourish in the Nopal cactus, not only helps to fight inflammation, it combats the poisons that attack our bodies on a daily basis. These poisons in our body come from the air we breather, the water we drink, and the food we eat; Nopalea ™ attacks these poisons where they strike us first: right inside the trillions of cells in our bodies.

According to Marcelle Pick, NP OB/GYN, "our bodies weren't designed for modern life. We're sitting ducks to a daily barrage of toxins, infectious agents and stress, seen and unseen. This kind of demand requires a lot of support to maintain your immune's system resilience. Our go-go lifestyle just doesn't make room unless we pay attention - to everything: what we breathe, eat, drink and absorb and feel. It all has a pro- or anti-inflammatory effect, and for most of us, the factors are skewed toward inflammation."[6]

We need to protect our bodies against these poisons on a daily basis, and that's not just the cells inside the body, it also includes your skin. As a matter of fact, your skin is a miraculous covering that protects you from harm. Pollution, toxins, radiation and other potentially damaging influences are kept out of your body by your skin; vital organs are protected inside. One of the first signs of aging is thin, sagging, withered skin that is easily damaged. Nopalea's betalains are working outside your body to help protect your skin.

Nopalea™ rushes to these damaged areas to shore up your protective layer. The betalains in Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ fill in the gaps of your cells (including the cells in your skin) and return them to the firm, robust nature of young cells - at any age. By providing a healthy environment for the cell, betalains keep it from withering.

If it's true what Hippocrates said, "all disease is one", and if the majority of diseases are in some way related to inflammation and toxins, doesn't it make sense to try TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™, which has the powerful antioxidant betalains.

If inflammation is the problem - Nopalea™ may be the solution.

Omega Prime

I've written several articles about omega-3 and the health benefits associated with essential fatty acids (EFSs). In a recent press release concerning a mouse study of the effects of omega-3s on age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the American Journal of Pathology called frequent enjoyment of fish the "see food" diet (AJP 2009).

Age-related macular degeneration causes retinal damage that cuts vision in the center of the visual field (macula)... and is the leading cause of severe vision loss and legal blindness among the elderly.

About one in 10 of people from 66 to 74 years of age develop some level of macular degeneration, making it difficult for them to read, or even to recognize faces.

Here's a quote from the press release from the American Journal of Pathology:

"A diet high in omega-3 fatty acids has been found to protect against a variety of diseases including atherosclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. Retrospective studies have suggested that diets high in fish oil or omega-3 fatty acids may also contribute to protection against AMD.

A group led by Dr. Chi-Chao Chan at the National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD examined the direct effect of omega-3 fatty acids on a mouse model of AMD. A diet with high levels of omega-3 fatty acids resulted in slower lesion progression, with improvement in some lesions. These mice had lower levels of inflammatory molecules and higher levels of anti-inflammatory molecules, which may explain this protective effect." [1]

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to human health, which now includes the eyes, but they cannot be manufactured by the body. For this reason, omega-3 fatty acids must be obtained from food. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in fish, such as salmon, tuna, and halibut, other marine life such as algae and krill, certain plants (including purslane), and nut oils.

You can also get omega-3 essential fatty acids through supplementation. As a matter of fact many supplements are less contaminate risky than some seafood. Since mercury contanination is a big concern of a lot of individuals, TriVita has taken the extra steps to insure mercury-free omega-3, and it comes in the form of their Omega Prime.

TriVita's Omega Prime is a supplement that gives you the needed omega-3 essential fatty acids to maintain a healthy omega-3 balance.

Before the recent study, omega-3 was considered more of an inflammation fighter, and a nutrient to protect your heart. As a matter of fact, Omega Prime meets the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. One daily dose of Omega Prime provides the amount of Omega-3 recommended by the AHA for healthy individuals, as well as for those who have heart disease or the risk of it.

Start protecting your heart, fight inflammation, and protect your eyes by including omega-3 into your daily diet.

You can find additional information on Omega Prime and all of the TriVita nutritional products by going to http://trivitaproduct.info. Weight loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

There are many weight loss diets that are available to an individual who wishes to lose weight. Some of these weight loss diets can be categorized in a number of ways. For example some of the diets concentrate on just eating certain types of nutrients. An example of this type of diet can be a high protein or low carbohydrate diet.

Other types of diets can include a diet that emphasizes the use of one particular food. An example of this type of diet could be a grapefruit diet. In addition, there are diets that count calories, count points, count portions, etc.

However, the best weight loss diet is one that allows for the successful loss of weight in a healthy manner. Therefore, the best weight loss diet is one that eats the proper food, loses weight over a period of time and incorporates an exercise program.

Eating The Proper Food

When it comes to determining the best weight loss diet for an individual to be involved with it is important to start a diet that provides the human body all the nutrients it requires. Therefore, the best weight loss diet is one that does not focus in on one single food item, but incorporates protein, carbohydrates, fats, etc.

Therefore, the best weight loss diet is not about starving the body or going on a crash diet. The best weight loss diet is an action plan that utilizes a menu which helps the individual to either keep track of calories that is consumed or eating portions of specific foods.

Additionally, one of the struggles for an individual who has decided to lose weight is the feeling of being hungry. Therefore, if this is an issue, the individual who is considering what diet to be involved with may consider a vegetarian weight loss diet. This type of diet is not only beneficial in that the individual can eat vast amounts of vegetables, but this will also give them the feeling of being full.

Weight loss Takes Time

In conjunction with participating in a diet plan to lose weight there is another loss factor involved in successfully accomplishing weight loss goals. That additional loss is through the loss of time.

This is an important concept because the best weight loss diet plan is going to take time. This is because the adding of excessive weight did not happen overnight or in a matter of weeks, but was a process accomplished over a considerable amount of time. Therefore to reverse this process the same time commitment is necessary.

Exercise Program

In addition, it is important to know that the best weight loss diet is not sufficient unto itself. Therefore, in order to not only maximize the weight loss of an individual it is important to blend another component to help in this process.

That additional component is the blending of an exercise program with the diet plan. This strategy will not only help the individual to accelerate their weight loss, but help to tone up the muscles of the body that may have been neglected. In addition, it will increase the strength of the cardiovascular system.

Vitamin B-12

Vitamin B-12 is an important vitamin that you usually get from your food. It is mainly found in meat and dairy products. Vitamin B-12 helps make red blood cells and keeps your nervous system working properly.

It's been noted by many health professionals that stress can interfere with B12 absorption by upsetting the balance of acids in your stomach. It's the acids in your stomach that helps to separate B12 from your food so it can be absorbed by your body.

Studies have revealed that when your body is under any form of stress, it goes into "fight or flight" mode. That's where your body gathers all available resources - nutrients - to "fight" the stressor. It's possible for your body to deplete all these nutrients to "fight" that unwanted stress. It's unfortunate but the B vitamins are some of the first nutrients to be depleted by stress.

Since stress can deplete your body of the necessary b-12 vitamin, it's important to make sure your getting your fill of b-12. So, how can we make sure we're getting of daily requirement of vitamin b-12? By eating foods that are rich in b12. The best sources of vitamin B12 are animal products such as meat, milk, egg, and cheese. What about vegetarians?

Vegetarians can wind up becoming vitamin B-12 deficient if they don't check their nutrition level regularly. That's why vegans usually take nutritional supplements to correct the nutritional gap that they are losing when they do not eat meat. Since the recommended daily intake for vitamin B12 is 2.0 micrograms, supplements are the best source of b-12 for vegans. And supplements are the second way a person can get their recommended daily requirement of b-12.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can become a major problem, not just for vegans, for many individuals. And it usually results from inadequate absorption of the nutrients in the digestive system. Stress does interfere with B12 absorption> However, "impaired absorption is typically rooted to the inability of the body to absorb vitamin B12 due to recurring or external factors such as aging, complication, diseases, and other infections." [1]

Out of all the external factors that lead to impaired absorption, I believe age is actually what leads to our largest vitamin b-12 deficiency problem. This also leads to a major healthcare system problem. Why? As the largest portion of our population (the baby-boomers) continues to age the number of vitamin b-12 deficiency is bound to increase, because the older you get the harder it is for the body to absorb this nutrient.

If the baby-boomers don't do something, like supplementing their diet with b-12 vitamins, they will bet taxing our already struggling healthcare system. The best supplement I've found on the market is TriVita's Sublingual B-12. The reason I've found this one to be the best is because of it's patented delivery system. Since we've already discovered that absorption is the major problem, getting b-12 into the body is key, and that's exactly what happens with Sublingual B-12.

With TriVita's Sublingual B12, you can be assured that your body is getting the B vitamins it needs. The original, patented formula bypasses the digestive system, speeding the nutrients directly to your bloodstream, where they can go to work right away.

Without being able to absorb b-12 from the food you eat, and without taking a daily b-12 supplement, your third option would be to get b-12 injections (shots). Most injections require a doctor's office visit. However, there are places where you can buy vitamin b-12 and administer the shot at home. Before using that type of medicine, make sure you get a health care professional to provide detailed instructions and the appropriate use of this medicine. As with any supplement, always contact a healthcare professional, or your doctor.

Don't fall into the vitamin b-12 deficiency trap. If you're aging, and who isn't, ask your doctor or healthcare professional if taking a b-12 supplement is right for you. If they say yes, try TriVita's patented Sublingual B-12.

Sonoran Bloom Nopalea

According to a newsletter I received from Health Resources, they report that it's not just plaque from cholesterol that clogs your arteries. In this informative newsletter I've found more good information regarding the importance of ridding your body of harmful toxins.

"When it comes to heart disease and clogged arteries, you may think it only results from plaque build-up. However, toxic chemicals and heavy metals also lurk in your bloodstream and play an important role in your health. If left to roam around in your body, these toxins can cause headaches, depression, insomnia, abdominal pain, constipation and impaired kidney function." - Layne Lowery, President of Health Resources.

There was also more information from a link that was attached to the newsletter. With that in mind, I like to share some of this important information regarding toxins, and how to rid your body of the silent killers.

Back in the late 1940s, U.S. medical doctors faced a daunting task. Workers employed by battery factories were coming down with lead poisoning. In addition, U.S. Navy sailors painting ships and dock facilities with lead-based paints were also suffering from lead poisoning.

Lead poisoning was, and is, a serious problem because exposure to even small amounts of lead can cause your blood pressure to go through the roof and/or damage your brain, nervous system, stomach and kidneys. To find a remedy, doctors turned to a relatively new treatment: The intravenous injection of an amino acid, EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid).

EDTA was first used in World War II by the British as an antidote for poison gas inhalation.

Based on scientific research, doctors believed EDTA had the ability to grab onto heavy metals like a "claw," and sweep them out of the body. And they were right! So in 1948, the U.S. Navy began to use EDTA to treat lead poisoning.

Fast forward to 2009, sixty-plus years later, and we still have many toxins, not so much lead, that our systems have to fight on a daily basis. Daily, we're exposed to toxins in our air, water and food-and even toxins created by our own bodies. Living with poison in your body can be deadly!

When toxins assault your system–or when injury or infection strikes–your body responds with a complex biological process commonly referred to as inflammation. If this inflammation goes unchecked, it can lead to a wide variety of disorders, from stroke to arthritis to heart disease.

TriVita has discovered the power of betalains, a rare and potent class of antioxidants that flourish in the Nopal cactus. They have found a way to process this fruit from heaven into a daily nutritional drink called Nopalea™. Nopalea delivers scientifically proven health benefits, and combines its betalains, natural antioxidants, with other anti-toxic ingredients to combat these poisons where they strike us first: right inside the trillions of cells in our bodies.

By increasing the activity of CYP-2E1, a special enzyme that neutralizes daily toxins, Nopalea™ protects your cells and vital organs–especially your liver–against the carcinogens, hormone disruptors, respiratory toxins, developmental toxins and neurotoxins that are responsible for one-quarter of all the world's diseases.

Nopalea™ specifically targets signs of inflammation in your body and reduces them quickly.[1] Its betalains and other anti-inflammatory ingredients work directly on the fluid surrounding your cells. There, they draw off the toxins and excess water to reduce inflammation and rebalance the cellular environment.

When you drink Nopalea™, you take these betalains into your system, where they begin to restore your vitality on a cellular level. By helping the body reduce the toxins surrounding your cells and enabling essential nutrients to reach each cell, the betalains in Nopalea can reduce the inflammation in your body that leads to disease.

Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ also helps to neutralize free radicals. Free radicals are so dangerous, they've been implicated in more than 100 serious health problems for humans and animals. If the free radicals are left unchecked, they can damage cells and DNA, change biochemicals, destroy cell membranes and even kill cells.

Every day your body is under attack by free radicals, through your normal body processes and through the environment. Our bodies are normally capable of neutralizing free radicals. But if there's too much free radical oxidation, your body is overwhelmed. The result? Your free radical system is unbalanced and damage occurs. Free radical damage can accelerate aging and triggers life-threatening health problems. [2]

Fighting these free radicals is crucial to maintain a healthy body. I've already mentioned this but it's so important it deserves another mention; Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ helps to neutralize free radicals.

If you're worried about the damaging toxins (and not just lead) in your body, or suffer from inflammation, start taking Sonoran Bloom Nopalea today! According to some user's testimonials, Nopalea™ start to work immediately.

"Sometimes my sinuses get so blocked, I can hardly breathe, and it wakes me up at night. Recently, I took a prescribed nasal spray, which hardly gave me any relief. Then, I decided to take my Nopalea™. Within minutes, I felt calm and the inflammation in my sinuses decreased to the point where I could rest comfortably. When I finally got up to start my day, I felt rested, refreshed and was breathing freely again. Thank you, Trivita for Nopalea!"

Weight Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

Burning body fat is the key issue when it comes to losing weight. Fat burning during exercise only starts to work once the human body has properly warmed up. This process usually takes about 15 minutes. Plan your routine. Start with resistance exercises, followed by aerobic exercise such as jogging; by doing this, if you are running for 30 minutes you will be burning fat for 30 minutes.

Losing weight isn’t just about burning body fat. It’s also important to eat a well balanced diet. By starving your body of fats or another food group, you will cause the body to go into survival mode and begin to store any existing fat, making weight loss more difficult. This is one of the most common mistakes people make. To lose a good amount of weight, a healthy, balanced diet is required.

In order to tackle a diet of any kind you first need to learn how to control your hunger. If you feel hungry, eat something. Just ensure you eat decent healthy foods and don’t overeat. It is important though that you eat enough to satisfy your hunger and balance your blood sugar. Remember, the goal here is to lose weight, so you’ll only be undoing your hard work if you eat badly.

It seems counter productive when you get up and eat breakfast and find yourself even more hungry later in the morning than usual. But eating more in the morning actually helps reduce your hunger for the rest of the day, as towards the end of the day people are much more likely to crave food and eat too much. Eating a good healthy breakfast in the morning will put you on the right track for the rest of your day.

Weight loss supplements are used by many people wishing to lose weight and is often thought of as ‘the’ easy option. With weight loss supplements, look for established, well known companies. Check out their credentials and don’t be afraid to ask questions, after all it is your money you are spending. It is also your health that is in the balance so do your homework – get your doctor involved if necessary!

If you are on medication, check with your doctor first before embarking on any diet. Moreover, find out if any of the herbs counteract against any medicine you are taking. For example, some supplements and herbs cause high blood pressure. These are no good if you are hypertensive.

It goes without saying though that exercise and a healthy diet combined is better than popping pills and taking supplements. The type of exercise you choose really depends on you. Why types of exercise do you like doing? Why types of exercise do you dislike doing? Do you have to spend money on membership fees? Would you like someone to exercise with? Would you like to spend money on equipment? These are all things you need to think about and will put you on the right path.

With exercise, if you end up doing something that you are not keen on doing, you’re not likely to keep it up. Think about it, if you don’t like jogging you’re hardly going to keep dragging yourself out of bed at 7am, particularly when winter comes around! If you can’t find something you like, just do the thing you dislike the least. In most cases, this is usually walking.

Weight loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

Hey, I can lose 10 pounds – I've done it a hundred times." That seems to be the mantra of the typical American dieter. Repeatedly losing and regaining weight or yo yo dieting, may be frustrating, but this pattern does not appear to make losing weight more difficult.

In the 1980s, when scientists first began researching weight cycling, better known as yo-yo dieting, they speculated that it would make weight loss tougher by causing a metabolism slowdown. The theory seemed sound enough: When dieters lose weight, they lose (in addition to fat) large amounts of muscle, but when they regain weight, researchers guessed, they primarily put on fat. So, the repeated cycle of losing muscle -- which burns more calories than fat -- and gaining fat would only slow down a dieter's metabolism, making weight loss that much more difficult.

Logical as this theory sounds, research ultimately disproved it. In 1994, the National Institutes of Health and the National Task Force on the Prevention and Treatment of Obesity released a joint statement on weight cycling based on a review of several dozen weight-loss studies. Their conclusion: Yo-yo dieting doesn't seem to cause long-term metabolic damage. As it turns out, even though about 25 percent of weight lost from dieting without exercise is lean body tissue, about 25 percent of regained weight is also lean body mass, including muscle, which builds up to support the extra weight you've gained.

Still, despite what the research says, many chronic dieters swear they have a tougher time losing weight with each successive attempt and also a tougher time maintaining the weight they do lose. This may be the case for many people, just probably not for the reasons described above. One factor may be age. Every time you try to lose weight, you are, of course, older than you were last time. As you age, you tend to lose muscle, which slows your metabolism. You may also experience hormonal changes that tend to encourage fat gain. In addition, as people get older, they tend to be less active, which makes weight loss even harder.

All of this is why it's so important to add to any diet some form of exercise, but especially weight training. Lifting weights will help you preserve at least some of the muscle mass typically lost (temporarily) by dieting and (inevitably) due to age. You'll also look better of course; no matter what you weigh, you'll look firmer and shapelier.

Weight loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

When it comes to losing weight, everyone has an opinion about what works best. Low fat, low carb, or Mediterranean style—you've probably heard stories of people dropping major pounds by following one of these diets. The truth is you'll lose weight on any diet as long as you take in fewer calories than you burn. Keep reading to find out which diet is best for you.

Smiling Foods

Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health studied more than 800 overweight adults over 2 years, and researchers found that as long as people made healthy choices, the percentage of protein, carbs, and fat consumed didn't really matter. All the study participants (divided into groups eating low fat, high fat, high carb, or high protein) lost about the same amount of weight when they ate fewer calories than they burned.

The bottom line: The diet you choose should make you feel good, keep you satisfied, and limit your cravings for unhealthy foods. So how do you decide what plan will work for you?

  • Try balancing various amounts of lean protein (poultry, fish, and lean beef), complex carbs (fruits, vegetables, and whole grains), and healthy fat (nuts, olive oil, and seeds). Find the combination that makes you full and energetic.
  • Keep a food journal of what you eat and how you feel. Over time, you'll start to see patterns emerge.
  • If you're a Team Beachbody member, you can visit the Eat Smart section of the Web site and choose from three different pre-populated meal plans (Balanced, Low Carb, and Active Lifestyle), or custom design your own according to your preferences.

When you decide what kind of diet to follow, here's how to get the most out of it:

  • Low-fat diet. The amount of fat you eat varies according to the diet's creator. The Ornish Diet, designed by cardiologist Dean Ornish to help people reverse heart disease, recommends that you eat 10 percent of your calories from fat. The American Heart Association, on the other hand, considers low fat to be up to 35 percent from fat. A low-fat diet should consist of lots of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, beans and legumes, and little meat. It is not an excuse to eat mountains of pasta or processed carbs (like fat-free cookies or crackers), as these will spike your blood sugar, make you hungrier, and add a lot of unnecessary calories.
  • Low-carb diet. Plans like Atkins, South Beach, and the "Paleo" diet claim that by cutting carbohydrates your body will have to dig into its fat stores for energy. That is often true, at least at first, until your body adapts to the decreased energy from carbs and rapid weight loss slows. Plus, if you chow down on artery-clogging bacon, butter, and steak every day and don't choose heart-healthy protein and fat sources (like lean meats, nuts, and olive oil), you can develop other health problems and nutrient deficiencies. Watch out for saturated fat in foods like whole milk, butter, and meat, and be mindful of portion sizes when you're following a low-carb diet. You might find it hard to sustain a low-carb diet over the long term because you have less energy and feel tired a lot. If that happens, just switch to another diet plan.
  • Mediterranean Salad Mediterranean-style diet. This has gained popularity over the last few years as a healthy, balanced approach to eating. It emphasizes whole grains, fruits, vegetables, unsaturated fats from nuts and olive oil, and lean protein like fish and chicken. You don't want to overdo the pasta, cheese, and alcohol on this diet because these calories add up quickly. This is a moderate-fat diet that offers a variety of choices and will suit many different tastes. You'll find that most Beachbody® nutrition plans follow guidelines that are similar to a Mediterranean-style diet. It's easy to get all the nutrients you need to sustain a healthy, energetic lifestyle with this method of eating.

When you've found the diet that suits you, you may notice that your weight starts to drop without a lot of effort. You'll be more satisfied and less prone to cravings, which will help you be consistent with your plan. As long as you stick to your diet and combine it with a workout program that also fits your preferences, you will be able to lose weight and keep it off.

Weight Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

What you eat is very important and it is possible to put together a simple and healthy meal plan. One that is not going to be complicated and hard to follow. It is possible and I will show you how. The healthy meal plans below will help you achieve your health goals while simultaneously shedding fat off your body.

Here are 3 healthy meal plans you can get started on right now.

Breakfast
Protein should be included in every meal throughout the day and breakfast is no exception. Make sure to include organic eggs, cottage cheese, raw nut butter or smoked fish as one component of your healthy breakfast. Carbohydrates should also be included in the form of oatmeal, sprouted grain bread, fruit and/or vegetables.

3 great sample breakfasts are:

  • Oatmeal with almond butter, topped with fresh berries and a bit of Stevia to sweeten.
  • 2 hard boiled eggs, 1 slice sprouted grain toast and ½ grapefruit
  • Smoked salmon over sliced tomato and 1 green apple

Lunch
The same rules apply as breakfast. An easy way to ensure that you always have a healthy protein available for lunch is to pack leftovers from dinner the night before. Leftover hamburger, chicken legs or wild fish are all great to include in a salad or over vegetables.

3 great sample lunches are:

  • Baked Tilapia over sautéed spinach, green salad with chick peas (oil and vinegar as dressing) followed by ½ cup of pineapple.
  • Leftover chicken legs with ½ sweet potato and broccoli.
  • Lean hamburger over portabella mushroom and brown rice. Cooked vegetables or a green salad. 1 orange.

Dinner
You can really be creative with dinner. Look for recipes that are quick and easy and modify them with your own healthy ingredients as needed. Again, always remember to include protein and carbohydrates.

3 great sample dinners are:

  • Mexican salad: Ground beef over shredded lettuce and tomato, guacamole and brown rice.
  • Grilled Salmon over asparagus, green salad (oil and vinegar as dressing) followed by a fresh fruit salad.
  • Buffalo meat balls over rice pasta with sautéed broccoli.

Snacks
You never want to let your body get too hungry. Hunger often leads to binge eating of unhealthy food and makes sticking to a healthy eating regimen much more difficult. It’s important to keep snacks handy so you never experience hunger or a blood sugar low without having a healthy option nearby.

3 great snacks are:

  • 2 Tbsp almond butter on ½ apple
  • Trail mix made up of walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds and dried fruit (no sugar added)
  • Cottage cheese and pineapple

Incorporate just a few of these meals into your daily eating regimen and you will see an incredible difference in your weight loss results. Following simple and healthy meal plans like these is the first step in achieving your health and fitness goals.

Sonoran Bloom Nopalea

Inflammation is defined as a localized reaction of tissue to irritation, injury, or infection. Symptoms of inflammation include pain, swelling, red coloration to the area, and sometimes loss of movement or function. Although we commonly think of inflammation as the painful component of arthritis, inflammation is also a component of chronic diseases such as heart disease and strokes.

According to TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ web site, "If inflammation is the problem, Nopalea™ is the solution!"

Many chronic diseases start with inflammation. Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ drives down inflammation created by trauma, toxins, allergy, infection and nutrient deficiency. To protect yourself from the nutrient deficiencies that can be a cause of inflammation, you should supplement your healthy diet with daily nutrients.

If you suffer from inflammation, the most common medical anti-inflammatory treatments include rest, light exercise, weight maintenance, stretching, and medications designed to reduce the inflammation and control the pain. However, some medications can be very expensive, and many medicines, according to health professionals, have adverse affects on the human body.

On the other hand, Nopalea™ is a natural, concentrated wellness drink made from the Nopal cactus fruit, which is harvested from the Sonoran Desert at the peak of its freshness. From there, the fruit is juiced to a puree and bottled in a state-of-the-art facility, which ensures quality and freshness while also preserving the antioxidants and their potency.

What about the the food we eat? Can it be helpful to fight inflammation, or can it increase inflammation?

There are many pro-inflammatory foods that people eat on a regular basis, like "junk foods, high-fat meats, sugar and fast foods. All of these pro-inflammation foods will increase inflammation in your body. This is partially due to the unhealthy fats used in preparing and processing these foods, especially trans fats and saturated fats. Processed meats such as lunch meats, hot dogs and sausages contain chemicals such as nitrites that are associated with increased inflammation and chronic disease." [1]

Eating foods that fight inflammation and avoiding pro-inflammatory foods is your best bet. However, on some days, we're forced to grab a fast food lunch and/or dinner. Our lives are filled with many obstacles, and sometimes we cannot always eat a healthy meal. But, if you suffer from inflammation, which can lead to chronic diseases such as heart disease and strokes, maybe, just maybe, taking an all natural daily supplement like Nopalea™ is right for you.

It's the Betalains within the Nopal cactus that provides natural antioxidants to a polluted human body. Pollutants, or toxins, from the air we breathe, and the water we drink, are just part of what causes inflammation. Harnessing the power of betalains that flourish in the Nopal cactus, is what gives Nopalea the power to fight inflammation and detoxify the body.

Nopalea™ combines its betalains with other anti-toxic ingredients to combat the toxins (poisons) where they strike us first: right inside the trillions of cells in our bodies. Yes, you read that correctly, Nopalea fights what gives our bodies the most problems, right at the cellular level.

Nopalea™ specifically "targets signs of inflammation in your body and reduces them quickly." [2] Its betalains and other anti-inflammatory ingredients work directly on the fluid surrounding your cells. There, they draw off the toxins and excess water to reduce inflammation and rebalance the cellular environment.

Remember, "If inflammation is the problem, Nopalea™ is the solution!"

If you're a person that suffers from inflammation, maybe it's time to give TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ a try. Give your cells a fighting chance and try it today!

Weight Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

Lemons and weight loss are lately in the news quite often with success stories of how people have accomplished rapid weight loss drinking individual lemon drinks. There are lots ways that you can reach quick weight loss, and so if you are looking to lose weight, then you should first do your homework. Using lemons for weight loss is just one of them.

Some people like myself, consider that rapid weight loss is unhealthy because they believe that it can’t be secure to lose weight that instant, but you should know that there is nothing bad with quick weight loss, and utilising lemons to reach weight loss is really advantageous to your health as it cleans your body at the same time.

A well best-known lemon diet which is utilised by a lot of famous people is called the ‘Master Cleanse’. This diet using lemons to attain rapid weight loss was really contrived different years ago and has been used successfully by thousands of individuals ever since.

Some people who undertake the lemon diet for smart weight loss also take supplementations, however taking pills and medicines can be actually dangerous. Vitamin add-on are fine and so are most herbal cures for weight loss however while you are on the lemon diet for weight loss which is an all liquid diet, you only drink liquids and do not eat anything. You cannot do this diet for than ten days because if you keep going longer than that then you will get gravely ill.

Weight loss of between five and fifteen pounds is what the average someone who attempts the lemon diet for quick weight loss is expected to lose. One of the most essential things to do before you start your lemon diet is to prepare and the best way to do this is to buy a ‘Master Cleanse Kit’ which provides you with everything you take to start your rapid weight loss program.

Although cardio exercise is a essential for weight loss, it is not recommended on the master cleanse due to the very low calorie intake. Still you should also know that if you are using lemons as a method of instant weight loss it is less likely that you will be able to keep the weight off for a substantial period of time, and so you are going to want to come up with a different plan for the long-term but having said that it is great if you want to kick start your diet or have a few pounds to lose before an main date!

Vitamin C

Many of us have heard about the importance of vitamin C, yet we sometimes forget and need a reminder of the many benefits of this all important vitamin. With that said, I've gathered some information from the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMM). Because this vitamin is so important to your health, I've left the majority of the site's content intact, and I give UMM full credit for this information.

"Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, meaning that your body doesn't store it. You get what we need, instead, from food. You need vitamin C for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body. It helps the body make collagen, an important protein in skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels. Vitamin C is essential for healing wounds, and for repairing and maintaining bones and teeth.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant. Antioxidants block some of the damage caused by free radicals, which occur naturally when our bodies transform food into energy. The build-up of free radicals over time may be largely responsible for the aging process and can contribute to the development of health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and arthritis.

Some evidence suggests that many people may be mildly deficient in vitamin C, although serious deficiencies are rare in industrialized countries. Smoking cigarettes lowers the amount of vitamin C in the body, so smokers are more at risk of deficiency. Signs of vitamin deficiency include dry and splitting hair; gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and bleeding gums; rough, dry, scaly skin; decreased wound-healing rate, easy bruising; nosebleeds; and a decreased ability to ward off infection. A severe form of vitamin C deficiency is known as scurvy.

Low levels of vitamin C have been associated with a number of conditions, including high blood pressure, gallbladder disease, stroke, some cancers, and atherosclerosis (the build-of plaque in blood vessels that can lead to heart attack and stroke). Getting enough vitamin C from your diet (by eating lots of fruit and vegetables) may help reduce the risk of developing some of these conditions. The evidence that taking vitamin C supplements will help or prevent any of these conditions is lacking, however.

Results of scientific studies on whether vitamin C is helpful for preventing heart attack or stroke are mixed. Vitamin C doesn't lower cholesterol levels or reduce the overall risk of heart attack, but some evidence suggests that it may help protect arteries against damage.

Some studies -- though not all -- suggest that vitamin C, acting as an antioxidant, can slow down the progression of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). It helps prevent damage to LDL ("bad") cholesterol, which then builds up as plaque in the arteries and can cause heart attack or stroke. Other studies suggest that vitamin C may help keep arteries flexible.

In addition, people who have low levels of vitamin C may be more likely to have a heart attack, stroke, or peripheral artery disease, all potential results of having atherosclerosis. Peripheral artery disease is the term used to describe atherosclerosis of the blood vessels to the legs. This can lead to pain when walking, known as intermittent claudication. But there is no evidence that taking vitamin C supplements will help.

The best thing to do is get enough vitamin C through your diet. That way, you also get the benefit of other antioxidants and nutrients contained in food. If you have low levels of vitamin C and have trouble getting enough through the foods you eat, ask your doctor about taking a supplement.

Vitamin C (500 mg) appears to work with other antioxidants, including zinc (80 mg), beta-carotene (15 mg), and vitamin E (400 IU) to protect the eyes against developing macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of legal blindness in people over 55 in the United States. The people who seem to benefit are those with advanced AMD. It isn't known whether this combination of nutrients helps prevent AMD or is beneficial for people with less advanced AMD.

Some excellent sources of vitamin C are oranges, green peppers, watermelon, papaya, grapefruit, cantaloupe, strawberries, kiwi, mango, broccoli, tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, and citrus juices or juices fortified with vitamin C. Raw and cooked leafy greens (turnip greens, spinach), red and green peppers, canned and fresh tomatoes, potatoes, winter squash, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, and pineapple are also rich sources of vitamin C. Vitamin C is sensitive to light, air, and heat, so you'll get the most vitamin C if you eat fruits and vegetables raw or lightly cooked." [1]

Since vitamin c is so important to your health, and it's so sensitive to light, air, and heat, I believe you should take a daily supplement to make sure you get enough of this essential vitamin. I'm not alone!

Dr. Alfred Libby and two-time Nobel Prize winner Dr. Linus Pauling considered Vitamin C absolutely vital to good health. So much so that Dr. Pauling wrote extensively about its extraordinary importance in his book on living longer.

In the early 1990s, several large population studies showed a reduction in cardiovascular disease in those who consumed vitamin C. The most significant report came from UCLA in 1992, where it was announced that men who took 800 mg a day of vitamin C lived six years longer than those who consumed the FDA's recommended daily allowance of 60 mg a day. The study, which evaluated 11,348 participants over a ten year period of time, showed that high vitamin C intake extended average life span and reduced mortality from cardiovascular disease by 42%. This study was published in the journal Epidemiology (1992; 3:3, pp 194-202).

Separately, Thomas Levy, MD, JD, Cardiologist has said this, "The lower your vitamin C blood and tissue levels go, the greater your chances of developing significant heart disease."

Most pharmaceutical companies claim that all supplements are the same. I believe there is a difference between many supplements. Although I don't have all the answers, I personally prefer the Vitamin C crystals, developed by Dr. Libby. Although this is what I prefer, it's up to you to find the supplements that deliver the best results for you.

After reading this article, I think we can all AGREE on the importance of vitamin c. It's not a mystery regarding the benefits of vitamin c. Case studies and scientific evidence has proven that vitamin c is essential to your daily diet. If you're not getting enough through your regular diet, TriVita's Vitamin C crystals may be right for you.

Fat Loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

The topic of fat loss is a hugely debated issue these days. With 67% of the population either overweight or obese, it effects nearly everyone. It seems like everywhere you turn there is a new pill, gimmick or fad diet to help magically shed excess body fat.

Sorry, it’s not that simple. Don’t get discouraged though. Fat loss requires an educated and proven plan, coupled with some intense physical effort. There are six basic keys to help shed that twenty extra pounds of belly fat.

1. CREATE A CALORIC DEFICIT: Without creating caloric deficit you’ll never lose body fat. It’s really common sense. Your metabolism must burn more calories than you consume each day. How do you increase your internal metabolism? By eating frequently with plenty of protein, healthy fats and vegetables at every meal. I recommend a 33/33/33 percent split of carbs, protein and healthy fats.

Drink water like it’s going out style. Get rid of the coke, coffee and calorie loaded fruit drinks. Eat six small meals ( around 300 calories each) every day in three hour intervals. This tricks your body into burning the calories you eat and not storing them as fat. In addition, you must rev up your metabolism through intense physical exercise.

2. READ NUMBER ONE AGAIN: Yes, it’s that important. Research has shown that 80 to 90 percent of weight loss is diet related. No matter how much you exercise, if you’re not eating right you’re robbing your results. I recommend a nutritionist for most of my clients. The accountability and one-on-one approach that comes with a nutritionist works very well. If your budget is tight Fast Track to Fat Loss is a great low-cost alternative to the nutritionist.

3. INCREASE THE COST OF EACH EXERCISE: In terms of metabolic demand, there is a huge difference between a lunge and an arm curl. The former challenges tons of muscle groups and activates your energy systems. The latter leaves you fat and skinny. Squats, deadlifts and lunges have a very high metabolic cost. Isolation exercises and machine-based exercises don’t. Lifting big weight = lots of calories burned!

4. INCREASE THE COST OF EACH WORKOUT: Take point #3 a step further. You must not only look at each exercise, but the total metabolic cost of each workout. The more calories you burn every workout, the fasted you’ll lose fat. You need to perform circuit style workouts with total-body lifts. I recommend 4 to 8 total-body exercises with no more than a minute between sets. The circuit should include the basic human movements: push, pull, squat, lunge, deadlift, and twist. I recommend two to three minutes between circuits. You should alternate you rep and set range each workout. For example: day 1 – five reps/four sets, day 2 – ten reps/three sets, and day 3- fifteen reps/two sets.

5. PERFORM HIIT (high intensity interval training): HIIT burns more calories and stimulates your metabolism more than steady state cardio. Not only will you burn more calories while you’re doing HIIT, but it also revs your metabolism higher than traditional forms of cardio by boosting EPOC(excessive post-exercise oxygen consumption) In English, this means your fat-burning furnace runs 24 to 48 hours longer. The benefit: you burn calories while sitting on the couch a day later.

Try this on your bike: warm-up for five minutes, sprint for one minute (85-95% HRM), then recover for thirty seconds (50-60% HRM). Complete this cycle four times and cool-down for another five minutes.

6. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SOCIAL SUPPORT: Are your co-workers forcing you to eat at McDonald’s everyday? Quit your job! Are your friends pressuring you into drinking beer and eating wings every weekend? Ditch them! Is your wife tempting you to eat ice cream every night? Divorce her!

I think you see where I am going with this. If you don’t surround yourself with an environment that’s not conducive to losing fat you’ll have a difficult time finding that Health body. You need to attack fat loss with a passion. Don’t lose focus of your goals.

Getting Benefits of B12

New DocumentGetting Benefits of B12

“Is my body getting the B12 it needs for energy?”

Medical science has answered this question. And the experts agree that as you get older, your ability to absorb B12 through digestion continually decreases. In fact, many adults are unable to absorb B12 into their body at all! Even more, a depletion of vitamin B12 can be detrimental to your health. Why? Because B-12 plays a key role in the production of chemicals that help regulate sleep, mood, appetite, and ENERGY! Renowned doctors, Paul Cheney and Charles Lapp, conducted an important study with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients. They gave these patients high doses of B12 injections. The B12 shots dramatically increased ENERGY in 80% of the participants and helped them sleep better benefits of B12.

Now, doctors everywhere are administering B12 shots to help their patients have more ENERGY. Yet, the shots are often painful and expensive. So is there another way? A simple, affordable, and less painful way? Yes.

Here is the important, simple solution to get the B12 you need. In 1984, a patent was awarded to Dr. Alfred Libby, M.D. for his formulation of Sublingual B12. Dr. Libby also added B-6 and folic acid to enhance the medical benefits of the Sublingual B12. This original Sublingual B12 melts under your tongue and speeds the essential B nutrients directly into your bloodstream where the benefits of B12 immediately begin to help your body.

Benefits of B12 for Lowering Homocysteine Levels

New DocumentNew DocumentBenefits of B12 for Lowering Homocysteine Levels

In recent years, researchers have identified another risk factor for cardiovascular disease: an elevated homocysteine level.

Homocysteine is an amino acid normally found in blood, but elevated levels have been linked with coronary heart disease and stroke. Elevated homocysteine levels may impair endothelial vasomotor function, which determines how easily blood flows through blood vessels. High levels of homocysteine also may damage coronary arteries and make it easier for blood clotting cells called platelets to clump together and form a clot, which may lead to a heart attack.

Vitamin B12 , folate, and vitamin B6 are involved in homocysteine metabolism. In fact, a deficiency of vitamin B12 ,folate, or vitamin B6 may increase blood levels of homocysteine. Recent studies found that vitamin B12 and folic acid supplements decreased homocysteine levels in subjects with vascular disease and in young adult women. The most significant drop in homocysteine level was seen when folic acid was taken alone. A significant decrease in homocysteine levels also occurred in older men and women who took a multivitamin/ multimineral supplement for 8 weeks. The supplement taken provided 100% of Daily Values (DVs) for nutrients in the supplement.

Evidence supports a role for folic acid and vitamin B12 supplements for lowering homocysteine levels, however this does not mean that these supplements will decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease. Clinical intervention trials are underway to determine whether folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin B6 supplements can lower risk of coronary heart disease. It is premature to recommend vitamin B12 supplements for the prevention of heart disease until results of ongoing randomized clinical trials positively link increased vitamin B12 intake from supplements with decreased homocysteine levels AND decreased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Benefits of B12 For Pregnant Women

New DocumentBenefits of B12 For Pregnant Women

Do pregnant and/or lactating women need extra Vitamin B12?

During pregnancy, nutrients travel from mother to fetus through the placenta. Vitamin B12, like other nutrients, is transferred across the placenta during pregnancy. Breast-fed infants receive their nutrition, including vitamin B12, through breast milk. Vitamin B12 deficiency in infants is rare but can occur as a result of maternal insufficiency [15].

For example, breast-fed infants of women who follow strict vegetarian diets have very limited reserves of vitamin B12 and can develop a vitamin B12 deficiency within months of birth [7,16]. This is of particular concern because undetected and untreated vitamin B12 deficiency in infants can result in permanent neurologic damage. Consequences of such neurologic damage are severe and can be irreversible.

Mothers who follow a strict vegetarian diet should consult with a pediatrician regarding appropriate use of vitamin B12 supplements for their infants and children [7]. They should also discuss with their personal physician their own need for vitamin B12 supplements.

Benefits of B12 as You Age

New Document

Benefits of B12 For Those Senior Moments

B12 is the key to reclaiming your mental energy.

Brain erosion can start as early as age 30.
Most everyone has “senior moments.” You’ll be talking with someone and suddenly you can’t remember your best friend’s name or the movie you saw last night. These are fairly commonplace occurrences for people as they age and nothing to worry about as long as they don’t happen very often.

However, if your age is creeping up to 40, 50 or 60 then you have reason to be concerned if:
• Your memory is starting to slip
• Your agility, coordination and balance may be off
• It’s harder for you to focus and concentrate
• Your attention span is shorter
• Your concentration is scattered
• It’s more difficult for you to start or sustain a conversation
• Your handwriting is becoming sloppy or illegible
• You are starting to wonder whether you are getting dementia.

If one or more of these is happening to you, it could be the result of brain erosion. Brain erosion means that the brain actually erodes or shrinks. Can the brain really shrink? Yes it can! The human brain may lose from 10 to 25 percent of its total volume due to the effects of stress.

Are There Benefits of B12

New Document

Why is B12 so important?

B12 is vitally necessary for the proper formation of red blood cells. Blood consists of a liquid called plasma and three types of blood cells:

* White blood cells that help fight infections
* Platelets that help your blood clot after a cut
* Red blood cells that carry oxygen from your lungs to your brain and other organs and tissues. Your body must have oxygenated blood to function – it gives your body its energy

All three types of blood cells are produced by regular cell division in your bone marrow – a red, spongy material located within the cavities of many of your large bones.

If your original cells have an inadequate supply of vitamin B12, your new red blood cells will be abnormally large and your white blood cells will have abnormal nuclei. Both will be destroyed more rapidly in the bone marrow and fewer will make it into your bloodstream, robbing your body of the oxygen it needs to function properly. Large, dense, oversized red blood cells (RBCs) are seen in vitamin B12 deficiency anemia.

Energy Now!

Do you find it difficult making it through the day, or are you constantly tired throughout the day? You problem may be that you lack energy. TriVita has solved that nagging problem with a product called Energy Now!.

Every day, you encounter stressful situations that sap the energy from your body. You become exhausted and irritable from the stress because your body uses too much of the amino acid, phenylalanine. Energy Now! is rich with natural phenylalanine – fueling brain function and providing you with the alertness and mental clarity you need to live life to its fullest.

The oxygen balance inside cells is critical to feeling your best. To prevent oxygen starvation within your cells, Energy Now! includes natural antioxidant polyphenols from green tea and cocoa which increase oxygen delivery and give your body what it needs for maximum energy production.

The spark in your energy cycle comes from your nervous system, including your brain. Your brain relies on B Vitamins to fuel its processes and provide a nutrient-rich environment for mental clarity, mood balance and energy production. The CoQ10, B-1, B-2, B-3, B-5 and B-6 vitamins found in Energy Now! assist in this process, and provide the ignition your brain needs to recharge its energy supply.

"I saw James Robison on TV and got TriVita’s Sublingual B-12 and Energy Now! I've been taking it for several years, except when I was in remission for about a year. I'm 62 years old and care for my mother. With CFS, I have no stamina, feel weak and have pain in all of my joints. On bad days I also have blurred vision, mental fog, and I'm so weak I can't even hold up a paperback book. Energy Now! is the reason for my dramatic improvement. It gives me much more energy and stamina. I just thank God for it. I take two in the morning and another one after lunch. But I'd tell anyone to play it by ear and adjust individually… sometimes I need just one in the morning or take two in the afternoon. But I want everyone with chronic fatigue to know that Energy Now! really helps me."
- Virginia C. Lexington, MS

Some people have been worried about phenylalanine and some possible health risks that associated with it. However, according to the Mayo Clinic, "phenylalanine isn't a problem for most people."

Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D. of the Mayo Clinic says that "phenylalanine is found in protein-rich foods, such as milk, cheese, nuts, seeds, poultry and fish. It's also found in diet foods, such as diet soda, which contains aspartame.&"

"Phenylalanine isn't a problem for most people. Diet sodas contain a warning about phenylalanine because it can pose a risk to people who have phenylketonuria (PKU). PKU is a rare condition in which the body cannot process phenylalanine. If you don't have PKU, don't worry about phenylalanine in your diet soda," she concludes.

Energy Now! is safe unless you do suffer from PKU. Before taking any supplement, it's best to contact your health care professional, and/or doctor.

Omega Prime

Did you know that your brain is made up of 60% fat? And did you know that the neurons that communicate messages to your brain need high concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids to get the job done? If you answered no to one of both of these questions, chances are, you're not getting enough omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs).

If you're not getting enough omega-3's—your brain is one of the first organs to feel the effects. And that means...

  • Sluggish thinking and mental fog
  • "Senior moments" and forgetfulness
  • Poor concentration and memory recall
  • Inability to learn new things
  • Mood swings and sadness

In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that mood problems will become the second leading cause of disability worldwide by 2020. [1]

And researchers say this increase may be due to the fact that we're eating fewer amounts of essential omega-3's. It's suggested that we should not take a chance with our brain health. We need to make sure we boost our levels of healthy omega-3's.

"Regular fish consumption (1-2 servings per week) is protective against coronary heart disease and ischaemic stroke and is recommended. The serving should provide an equivalent of 200-500 mg of eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acid. People who are vegetarians are recommended to ensure adequate intake of plant sources of a-linolenic acid." [2]

If you're not a fish eater, like many people, it's never been easier to get your regular dose of omega-3 because TriVita's Omega Prime contains healthy omega-3's, EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), which are both found only in coldwater fish like salmon and herring.

With a healthy dose of 400 mg of omega-3—you get powerful omega-3 supplementation to help boost your brain and body health.

Other ingredients in Omega Prime are organic flaxseed oil, which contains "alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an essential fatty acid that appears to be beneficial for heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, and other health conditions"[3], and evening primrose oil, which "contains an omega-6 essential fatty acid, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which is believed to be the active ingredient."[4]

Omega Prime not only protects the brain, but also meets the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines for omega-3 intake. One daily dose of Omega Prime provides the amount of Omega-3 recommended by the AHA for healthy individuals, as well as for those who have heart disease or the risk of it.

Now, you can protect your brain and heart at the same time by taking a daily supplement, TriVita's Omega Prime.

Desperate To Lose Weight

Desperate To Lose Weight

Many of us dream of an ideal body size and weight for ourselves. Incidentally, our dreams about ‘ideal size’ are often based on the pictures we see on magazine covers: those of size-zero models and celebrities. In short, we want to have a body like that of our favourite celebrity. Most of us also have a "trouble spot" that seems to be the bone of contention; we hate that spot so much that we want to get rid of it quickly. For some, it is either those flabby arms or large buttocks.

You may try many diets and exercise methods with little success that you ,may develop somewhat of an aversion to both of these weight loss methods. You keep searching for a weight loss solution that doesn’t involve the use of either fad diets or long and intense workouts.

Contrary to what you might be thinking, it is not another fad diet that I discovered but an invaluable weight loss tip. You can achieve weight loss by eating the right foods at the right time. By "right foods", I don’t mean that you need to go shopping for low-fat or low-calorie foods. Far from that, I think you should eat foods that provide the maximum amount of nutrition, while discarding the worthless junk.

It is important that you don’t restrict yourself only to ‘low-calorie’ or ‘low-fat’ foods. This is the reason why most diet diets don’t work. If you follow a fad diet, you are sure to hit the weight loss plateau sometime or the other!

You eat foods to increase your metabolic rate, and when you eat the same type of foods day after day, your metabolism adjusts itself to it. So, if you eat only low-calorie foods , your metabolic rate will be low at all times because your body knows that it needs to burn only a few calories. Ideally, you’ll need a low GI foods list to identify which foods contain what.

The trick is to eat foods with varying calorie content. Remember that calories don’t matter as much as the source of the calories. Which means that you can eat 10 apples and still not gain weight while, if you eat 10 burgers or pizzas you will gain weight fast!

So far as exercises are concerned, they are not mandatory, but if you do them, you will burn even more calories. Unless you are a regular gym hitter (if you have been one then you wouldn’t have become overweight in the first place), I would advise you to stay out of the gym and focus on increasing your physical activity level by doing normal activities, such as playing, swimming, dancing, jogging, running, walking, etc. Doing normal activities is far easier than working out in the gym. Most people start working out with all the enthusiasm but soon they become bored with their workout routine and quit it altogether!

Avoid skipping meals. Skipping meals slows down your metabolism in an attempt to conserve calories during what your body perceives as a crisis situation where it has limited fuel. Eating increases your metabolism so be sure to eat small meals constantly through out the day. Eat three small meals and two snacks daily instead of three huge meals. In order to curb overeating, eat slowly and chew each bite completely.

Weight loss

Desperate To Lose Weight

Aiming for a weight loss of two pounds per week can be judged to be a safe, healthy and a lasting method to keep off the weight. Such a method is even advised by many exercise organizations like the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Dietetic Association apart from most of the legitimate nutritionists, dieticians, personal trainers and exercise physiologists.

There can be few exemptions from this like in case you need to go for huge amounts of weight loss, you might go for a weight loss way beyond this two pound weekly loss. Your weight loss rate can be relative to your overall weight. Generally speaking, you are allowed to aim for for a weight loss of up to 1% of your body weight in a week. For example, you can lose 3 lbs in a week if you weigh some 300 lbs (1% of 300 lbs = 3 lbs).

Look at other essential things, the amount of fat you lose is something that’s important but not the amount of weight you lose. Ever thought if the weight loss that you’re experiencing comes from the loss of body fat or from losing your lean body mass?

Recognize that weight and fat don’t mean the same. While your muscle, bone and other internal organs accompanied by lots of water comprise your body weight, what you really need is some fat loss but not a weight loss. It becomes so simple if you really wanted to go for a weight loss. Get yourself a sharp hacksaw and slice off one of your legs and you could merely lose some 20-25 pounds of weight. After all you only want some extra “weight” loss, right?

Let me try to make it more clear to you by using some numbers about this weight versus fat concept besides what might possibly result if you go for a quick weight loss (since a lot of you don’t confide in me and still want some quick weight loss).

For instance, suppose a man weighs 260 pounds and needs to shed off huge body fats (say 32%). Taking into account the 32% fat content, his lean mass tends to be 176.8 pounds where as his body fat accounts to some 83.2 pounds. With these values at hand, target loss can be 2-4lbs a week.

Vitamin D

In an email newsletter I received from Health Resource, president Layne Lowery said, "Vitamin D deficiency can produce a whole laundry list of severe ailments including decreased bone strength... high cholesterol levels... heart trouble... memory loss... aching joints... energy drain... and mood swings, just to name a few. And if you are over the age of 50, you face a higher risk since your body can't properly absorb vitamin D from natural sunlight."

If you've read any of my previous articles regarding vitamin D and its powerful effects on the human body, you'd understand what Mr. Lowery is saying. Vitamin D has been scientifically proven to provide you with a wide variety of health benefits that last for the long term.

Do you remember you mother telling you to drink your milk, and that you need the calcium and vitamin D to build strong bone? There was a lot of wisdom in your mothers words. Hopefully you followed her recommendation. However, vitamin D is not all about healthy bones. There have been a lot of studies done on vitamin D and some of the results are mind-boggling.

In a study done by Australian scientists, they have noted that "an inverse correlation between the condition of very sick patients and their levels of vitamin D."

"In other words, the sickest patients in the intensive care unit analyzed by researchers from Sydney’s Garvan Institute of Medical Research also had the lowest levels of vitamin D. In fact, among the 42 patients studied there were three deaths, and the deceased had the lowest levels of vitamin D in the cohort." [1]

Dr. Paul Lee, one of the researchers in the study, says "vitamin D has been linked to sugar control, heart function, gut integrity, immunity and defense against infection." [1]

"Patients in ICU suffer from different degrees of inflammation, infection, heart dysfunction, diarrhea and metabolic deregulation, so vitamin D deficiency may play a role in each of these common ICU conditions," he adds. [1]

The Australian scientists that conducted this study speculate that when we are very sick, the body draws upon any vitamin D available to function properly, and so we may need extra supplementation to maintain organ function during critical illness. Furthermore, bedridden patients are at an increased risk of bone loss and osteoporosis, and nutritional supplements containing vitamin D, which is safe even at high doses and inexpensive, may be a good idea anyway, they stress. [1]

TriVita has developed VitaCal-Mag D, which provides five forms of chelated calcium, over 20 bone-fortifying vitamins and minerals, 100% RDI of Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc and Vitamin D, within Chlorophyll-coated tablets that protect the valuable nutrients, which are time-releasing for optimal absorption.

It's possible that you can quickly restore healthy levels of vitamin D with VitaCal-Mag D from TriVita and may even reverse many of your most dangerous health problems.

You can learn more about vitamin D, and if supplementation is right for you. I'm not a doctor or health care professional, so I can't say if you need a vitamin D supplement However, from my research, I believe that if you're not getting enough sunlight exposure, or eating foods high in vitamin D, you should do something.
